I've got my nano running at my desk right now with no issues, but when I hook it up to the white ipod cable w/ adaptor, it has been just randomly freezing/stopping. I can't figure it out; it charges on the bike just fine. Any help?

Mine has been doing the same thing for quite some time. When I touch the cord, it will go back to playing. I think my plug is getting some corrosion in it. Been meaning to check for some time now.

There was a bug in the code of the Vision that could cause this. What version software is loaded on your 08 and 09 Visions?

Most of these issues were solved with code older then 5.12.

To find out how to check you SW code version click on the thread below.

My cord is the white one on my '08. Bought it when I bought the bike. I had the latest update put in on my radio back in 2010 so I think I'm up to date. Going to pull the cord this weekend and clean it up and see if it starts working right again.

Mine did the same thing. replaced the ipod cord to the newest cord that works on my 09 and it solved the freezing problems. By the way, dealership replaced mine for free at the time. The Vision was still under warranty.

I had this happen with my 08. I found that by velcroing the ipod to the side of the glove box fixed this. I went thru 3 cords before I found this out.

The black cable that radioteacher is talking about is for the newer GenIII and above IPods and IPhones. I'm still using a GenII IPod. Wilsondude should be using the black cable for the Nano, I believe.

My I-Pod begining to do this only this past week, sometimes would come up AUX on the display but keep playing, however I would loose handle bar control useage. However today it would freeze and stop playing, being im[aitent I would switch it to FM on the console as it was the only control I had except for volume. After a short time I would switch back to I-pod and would work fine for around 2-3 songs and then act up again. Open glove box and I-pod was on and appeared to be operating just fine. Did the un-plug and reconect thingy and still acting up. No changes in anything this year, no updates on the bike, same I-pod Classic from day one, same cord, ok I DID NOT check the plug terminals.
I am thinking the I-pod had had just about all the vibrations and jarring it can with stand. Has any one trashed thier classic I-POD classic on a Vision to date.
Also I am running the White 08 version Victory I-POD cable which does not work with the I-phone 4s other than just play back,(no song titles or skip on the handle bar controls.

I have always secured the iPod Nano with a 3M Dual Lock strip (3x stronger then velcro and available at Radio Shack). I found a small case that I keep my Nano that has the Dual Lock strip on the back.

For the first time (in almost four years of riding the Vision) I had some water in my connector. It rained about three inches that afternoon and the Vision just said AUX and would not play. I opened the glove box and disconnected the Nano. I had to endure the radio for the trip home. I used compressed air on the cable and left the door open over night. Did the same for the Nano and left it on the warm cable box overnight to make sure it was good and dry. I plugged it in the next morning and all is well.

Later I will get some Dielectric Grease and put on the connector at the cable end.

Update: Took my cable off and cleaned and put di-electric grease in the connector. Seems to be working fine now. Was able to make it freeze one time by wiggling the connection at the iPod, but otherwise its back working fine. Guess I'm going to have to put this on a " maintenance schedule".
