Fremont, CA | Hmmm, now you fellows have me concerned. I just plopped down $ 500.00 at Arlen Ness in Dublin for a dark blue 2012 Vision. Is there any chance I should be waiting for 2013 (the bike is still in Iowa and won?t be delivered until the 24th)? The wife loves the seat for her rather petite hind quarters, but was bitchin about the cargo area. We have ridden both a Road Sling and a Standard, but the Vision is more than night and day different. That morphodite of a touring pack has to go, which leaves only the modified glove compartments to store anything. Other than that, I love this bike?
Has anyone seen, or can verify that the storage area will be larger on a 2013? I need facts, as this will probably put me months away from getting the bike. Will there be a quick release on the trunk? She doesn?t give a crap on looks, and was looking forward to an afternoon nap with surround sound. But I ride daily to and from work, and really need to dismount the add-ons on a Sunday night....

Then you can put extra storage when you need it (can strap down a small box or cooler), and take it off when you don't.

Nothing has been confirmed. We're just guessing. There's a good chance Vic won't change a damn thing.
The trunk is not that hard to get off and put back on. It's four bolts and a wire plug. Use it when you need it, take it off when you don't.

Fremont, CA | Guess I?ll stick to my original plan then, and get the 2012. I could have gotten black, or the Ness bike that day. I almost bought a blue bike, Nevada model, in Laughlin a couple of weeks ago, but thought there would be major issues with California DMV. I knew I was hooked after riding a Hammer 650 miles in one day and could still standup right when I got home. I can hardly wait to ride this Cadillac, as I believe my biggest problem may be helmet hair. We?ll see in a couple of weeks?.
I must also say it is the easiest vehicle I have ever bought. Went to the dealer checking interest rates, and left 30 minutes later with the bike ordered. Before I could even get my game face on, they dropped the price to $2000.00 and wouldn?t let me sign the papers last week. The finance guy said I needed to come back this Saturday, as the Victory semi would be there, and they would give me another $ 1000.00 off coupon. If this all falls in place, I will ask them to negotiate my next car purchase..

Cabot Arkansas | They better NOT bump the engine up. I just bought a 2012 cause I just love the black over sunset red color.If they make all the lights led's with hid headlight and bump the engine while keeping the same look (I don't give a rat's ass if the bags are bigger)I guess my wife will be riding the 2012 and I'll have a new 2013  |

Yes, thank you. Its not like removing a tour pack from an Electra, but it doesnt appear to be to hard an activity. I just really hate the looks of that thing, so will probably get a backrest/lugage rack very soon. I had a standard, and never had the tour pack. The wife always found the T-Bag to be a better option, and it allows me to remove accesories when I am not using them... |

You're welcome! I don't like it either but when the wife and I go, it's nice. Plus it's HUGE inside, don't forget junk can be stuffed into the neck under the access cover and the lid is domed on the inside so you have to remember that when you load the trunk you can "mound" it up. Plus there's a light, a 12V outlet, it's watertight, lockable and you can get mirror for the old lady. Get a rack from Will at CycleOps and put another bag on top...

I like it better without the trunk, the Street look does a lot for the bike. One thing about the trunk is the looks and practability compared to the other bikes. I'm starting to dislike the square looks of the other brands, so I don't have a problem with the high-pod look of the Vision trunk. |

Spfld, IL but temp Bay area, CA | I was told at a Demo ride over a year ago, the side bags would be enlarged on the 13s. The outside will still look the same but they have done some engineering and able to make the inside quite a bit larger. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my 08, but bigger side bags, easily detachable trunk, and a little more travel on the windshield, I may have to consider upgrading. |

| The most requested improvement would have to be larger saddle bags. I think quick release larger saddle bags would be great. I usually struggle taking out and putting back in the saddle bag liners, which is a pain in wet weather. As for more power or torque there are exhaust and cam mods etc.
The sound system could have some improvements to the antenna and speakers. I believe the harley has a better sound system.

i have owned (2) visions and i never removed my trunk! i like the look of it. and Now i installed a trunk rack and the 99 leds brake light mod so its even more "different" looking with those 99 led lights. With out the trunk the vision's storage is just about useless.. i use my trunk more than i use the side storage. hell one of my compartments is already full (doesnt take much) with rain gear. plus i would hate to only listen to my radio with 2 speakers. there are just too man gains for me to remove my trunk.. |

As in, I'm sure if you left the tour pack on or trunk on, you could adjust and handle the vision just as well. The wheelbase is the same no matter WHAT accessories are on, and you would/could just adjust to the weight and dimensions.
Myself, I think I'm going to get a hitch and carrier that attaches to the hitch if I need extra room. It's pretty rare I need more than the trunk, but the hitch and carrier should be fine for those rare occasions where I do.

i completely agree with you.. all the road tests you see on the vision was with a trunk and they never had any problems with it ... so if a person as a problem with how the bike handles just because it had a trunk then the problem is not the bike its the rider...
i also use my trunk to charge my cellphone, grocery shop, carry bigger items securely, and add speakers like i said before. plus i store my air pump and patch kit with tools inside the door where they cd player would hide. if i didnt have my trunk i would have a motorcycle with very weak storage. storage (touring) is one of my main reasons for buying this bike in the first place. but to each their own. =) at least the trunk is removable and you can have that option.. |

Tucson, AZ | Maybe I should restate my comment. I've never had a problem with the way the bike handles. I said, in my HUMBLE opinion, the bike handles BETTER with the trunk off. You've got an extra 40 pounds on the rear of the bike and the weight is centered up pretty high. Besides if you've never had your trunk off, how do you know it doesn't handle differently? |

Alexi I have Gold Wing friends that have done this but one of the issues of doing this on the Vision is that the cargo you put on this tray will block in part or all of the rear brake and turning lights. A friend of mine has a hitch on his Vision and tried one of these trays and has this issue. This is an issue unique to the Vision. I have taken the trunk off a couple of times but I like the storage it provides, the rear speakers and having my CB radio and intercom. |

Just make a bracket with taillights on it, mount it to the "tray" and wire them up with flat four plug, wire the bike... Then you're completly ready to pull a trailer if ya want...

+1 Agree!
While I ride with my trunk off most of the time, I have discovered the same thing..... she does get better mileage and better top speed with the trunk ON! That thing was designed for aerodynamic efficiency, so it manages the wind better with it on than without it.
