Man, I'm sorrry to hear that. Damned deer around here is one reason why I refuse to ride at night. If I have to ride at night, it's a serious pucker factor until I get to my destination...

Same here.... hate riding at night in the country....

Hope you came out unscathed.

If they do total your bike you will probably NOT be able to purchase it back. This depends on your state laws. Most states have so called "chop shop" laws that prevent the average consumer from purchasing vehicles that have been deemed a total loss. For example here in Illinois the law is that the vehicle must be nine calendar years old (or older) in order for the vehicle owner to retain the vehicle. If the vehicle is less than nine years old then only a company with whats called a UDL Salvage license can purchase the vehicle.

Oh yea.....glad to hear you are doing ok !!!

As far as posting pictures there are tutorials in the "Welcome, Guidelines and Important Information" part of this forum.

Pictures are too large. I attempted to resize them still over 100kb. I did figure out how to download a photo. Heres a quote from Deer strike stratagies on the internet;
" After all, the greater your forward energy, the greater your impact force. Yeh, we?ve heard the folk tale of a motorcyclist riding at warp speed through the forest at night, and slicing a deer in half without dropping the bike. Even if that folk tale is true, the rider was extremely lucky, not clever or skillful. For every folk tale of slamming into a wild animal without getting hurt, there are several other reports of riders being seriously injured, and motorcycles destroyed. " I've heard of 3 Visions hitting deer without going down.

Go here to resize your photos: http://pixlr.com/editor/

Click on "open image from computer" open pic from your 'puter...

Then click on "Image" top left, in the black bar

Then "image size" make it smaller, maybe half of what evers already in the top box. Make sure you check the "constrain proportions" box or you'll have one goofy looking pic...

When my bike jumped off my bike lift it took a month to get it fixed. It took a week just order all the damaged parts then 2 weeks for the parts to trickle in, a week dickin at the paint shop, and it was assembled in one day.

No matter how long it takes it will take longer than they say and the fustration factor will be high. sorry to hear about the damage. I was there 8 months ago

Wow. I am glad you are OK. The list of things that a Vision hits or gets hit by and does not make the Vision go down is growing.

Deer
Armadillos
Cinder Blocks
Rear ended at 65 Miles per hour

What a bike!

Ride Safe

I was burning the rear wheel filling the garage with smoke wnen I released the front brake the Vision launched at the rear wall imagine my surprise as the bike and I ended up in the pool in the backyard.
I turned and looked back at the house with a large hole in the cinderblock wall.

OK that never happened but it is was what came to mind when I read cinderblock

I have the deer whistles on my bike. Now way to tell if they have prevented any from jumping out in front of me, but I can tell you that they didn't work for the several that have. My morning commute is almost always in the dark through some areas with significant deer populations. It is my greatest fear.

To date I've only hit one (actually it hit me from the side). Fortunately I didn't go down either, just replaced some body parts and lower deflectors.

Glad you're OK and good luck with the repairs. If it is totaled buying it back for parts would really be worth considering.

States should have laws requiring Deer to have reflectors. I've seen a couple of deer with whistles but I couldn't hear them.

Anyone else have any experience with a wrecked Arlen Ness Vision? I hit a deer Monday night at around 55 mph, which tore off most of the front end damaged both gas tanks and bent the forks. The bike wasn't even broken in yet 370 miles. I'm waiting for the insurance adjuster. If the bike isn't totalled what's it like getting parts (it's got all the 09 ness graphics)? If it is totalled I'll see if I can buy it for parts.

It is unlikely that the bike will be totaled. My wife did $11,000 damage to a 2010 Cross Roads and the insurance company fixed it. It took 10 weeks to get all the parts and bike back together. The positive side is that I did $5,000 damage to a 2010 Goldwing in the same accident and it took 11 weeks and me looking at a salvage yard for 1 part. Needless to say the GW went down the road and I love my new Vision.

Good luck.
