I removed my top filter due to too much noise. Especially at 2700 RPM, the injector "knock" was horrible! I have the stock plate on now and I definitely lost a little power.

When someone makes one that works and is quiet, I'll buy another one.

If it wasnt for the radio i would have taken it off my 2008 vision alot sooner than i did... i remember more than once i would start the bike for someone and they would ask "is that noise normal for a victory?" i said no its the 2nd air filter... the ticking and other mechnical noise.

Where in the RPM range is your power loss?

i remember when i had the lloyds first top filter. i thought (my impression) it made the rpm's rev quicker if that makes sense at all. im still up in the air about reinstalling the old one on my new vision or even getting the ness top filter.. i really didnt like that noise. made the bike sound "junky".

I have the ness filter and the noise Is not bad even when I had stock exhaust. Could still hear the radio loud and clear. Nothing ever said about it by others. It does have a nice intake sound on full throttle

From what i read on other forums the new top filter does Not quiet noise down.... and to be honest im not shocked. Why would it?! The main differences between them are, one uses a foam sponge type cleaner and the other one uses a cotton.. so how much of a difference (if any) could the other make........

JB, hearing it suck air is cool, but do you hear valve lash and injector knock? On my 11, the injector knock was so loud, it sounded al most like a bearing knock!!

Yeah, I miss the extra power since I removed the original Lloyds filter!

If I had to pick one thing I didn't like about this bike, it would be that noise.

I haven't been that deep into this bike yet, but is there any way to muffle the injectors themselves? I'm speaking from ignorance here, and possibly thinking outside the realm of "possibilities" but sometimes that's a good thing.

Would it be possible to coat the injector body with some sort of rubberized coating, like the stuff you can dip tools into? Just trying to get some thoughts and ideas flowing from those that know more about it than me.

I K&N oiled my intake plate before I put it on for the first time. I looked at the intake plate last night and the K&N oil did it's job...the foam filter was certainly clogged with dirt. At least the dust and dirt didn't go into the engine! I have to agree that a new and better design was imminent.
