My trip to Daytona bike week, confirmed my suspicion: I really need a luggage rack. Are there any luggage racks out there wide enough to use a T-Bag Decker Supreme? Looking at the Cycle Ops racks, they are beautiful but I don't think wide enough. Does any one know the exact dimensions of the winged rack vs. the standard looking one ?? Thanks...........steve

Steve, how fast do you want a rack and how important is cost? I have a real good reason for asking........

Speed not so important, price, well if the rack is big enough and looks good, price is relative. I feel the small Victory item is overpriced, the cycle ops not bad for the way they look but I think their just not big enough for the giant bags avilable today. I mention the decker bag cause I have one already for my Road Glide............

Sorry, can't give you dimensions, but there have been some post with pics in the gallery in the past with people using racks designed for Wings that were larger.

Have to ask if you are riding two up? If not, consider the Saddleman 4100 bag (same as the Victory bag at 1/2 the price). No need for the luggage rack, plenty of room, and it provides a back rest.

The OEM Victory trunk rack is 17 wide by 13.5 front to back.

One other thing to consider. Victory claims that the trunk has a 20 lb. weight limit. The docs that came with my rack claim a 5 lb. (yup five) weight limit.

My guess is that a large bag like the one that you are contemplating would easily carry over 40 lbs. Even if they are understating the limits for liability purposes, I question the amount of stress that the ABS trunk lid is capable of taking based on these specs.

One of the things I learned while using a trunk rack on my Goldwings was to use special large washers under each leg in order to spread the load that is on the rack and prevent the ABS from cracking. I use the polished stainless steel ones that are tapered and have a recess to fit the leg from the rack. You can find them at www.wingstuff.com when you go to the trunk rack page.

They say that about the weight on all these things, I've had 25 lbs in the bag and 30 lbs in the tourpack at the same time on the RoadGlide no problems, except you can feel it while picking it up off the kick stand................

Not trying to hijack, but what are the weight recommendations for the cycleopsusa winged rack? Will it handle a carry-on sized duffel?

Hey guys, this may sound weird coming from a man, but I've got the biggest rack available! LOL!

As for the question on capacity, my racks are built from 1/4" aviation construction grade tempered 6061-T6 billet aluminum and are incredibly strong and lightweight. Their capacity is more limited by your molded trunk lid's ability to not punch a leg through it than is my racks' load capacities.

As for my 'big racks'... All 3 of my rack styles are larger than the factory racks.

The Winged V is 19.5" wide and is 13.8" front to rear

The Retro is 17.15" wide 13.43" front to rear

And the NEW Flame is 17.15" wide and 15.9" long.

This makes them all bigger than the OEM.

Here's a peek at the new flame rack by the way, just back from the chromes...

Chris; help yourself... we'll both enjoy it when you do.

Ask Nate, he recently grasped hold of my rack, right Nate?

By the way Nate, hope you're enjoying your new goodies, great to see you here. :tu

The advantage of the cycle ops rack is, it is made 1/2 inch taller than the vic one, the straps for a big bag can be wrapped around the mounting post. I will try and post a pic of the big Tbag bag mounted. Plus it is cheaper than the stock rack.
