Left Wednesday morning for Foxcreek Leather in Independence, Va. then headed north on the Blue Ridge Pkwy stopping in Roanoke for the night. Continued north yesterday and got off in Amherst coming back to Midlothian and home but first stopping at the cigar store for a short stick before going home. Perfect riding temps with a low of 58 on top and low to mid 70's for the balance of the trip. So nice to travel in the middle of the week with the only traffic around the small towns. Leaves are starting to turn so the leaf peepers were not out and we had the parkway to ourselves.

Great pictures! I have to go Roa. today for new tires, after seeing your pics, I think I'll run the BRP myself!

Nice pics.
Thanks for the head's up on Fox Creek.
We'll be going through Independence in about a week so I added their store to our trip plan!

Very cool! All I had was my iphone, but got a few nice pics too. I got on Wed. AM at mile post 0 in Waynesboro Va. and made it all the way to Asheville, NC. My goal was to do the entire 469 miles in a day. The first 90 miles was very dense fog. The last hour was in the dark and I had had enough for the day. I think I did just shy of 400 miles. Can't wait to go back.

For those of us who live 3200 miles from Virginia and probably never will get there, could you please tell us what BRP translates to? I'll stick with 101or 395.

BRP - Blue Ridge Parkway Beautiful riding through NC and VA.

Per Wikipedia:
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Parkway and All-American Road in the United States, noted for its scenic beauty. It runs for 469 miles (755 km), mostly along the famous Blue Ridge, a major mountain chain that is part of the Appalachian Mountains. Its southern terminus is on the boundary between Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina, from which it travels north to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and offers access to the Skyline Drive, the major north/south artery through the Park. The two All-American Byways are separate and distinct. The Blue Ridge Parkway was built to connect Shenandoah National Park to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The Parkway is not a National Park, but is a National Scenic Byway and All-American Road, and is the most visited unit in the United States National Park System. Land on either side of the road is maintained by the National Park Service and, in many places, the park is bordered by land protected by the United States Forest Service. The Parkway will be depicted on North Carolina's version of the America the Beautiful quarter in 2015.[1]
