Hi. Has anyone installed a rear mud flap ? Did it do any good ? I just made one and put it on. I will let you know after I ride in the rain if it kept the back of the bike cleaner.

I never thought the rear of the bike needed a mud flap? The rear end is very low to start with.

I remember another one with chrome trim at the bottom but can't remember who did it.

Several friends were teasing me about a spaceship so I put a Marvin the Martian flap on the back of mine. I have plans on doing the front fender when it starts to cool off.

Be forewarned, it was not until shortly after I added a Drag Specialties mud flap to the rear of my front fender that the fender (rear plastic half) subsequently cracked at the mounting holes.

Three of my friends experienced this as well. Two of them experienced a loss of steering ability when the rear half fell and wedged itself against the frame. Luckily, no one was hurt.

I was able to find an OEM replacement fender (rear plastic half) for about $50. I added fender washers on both sides when installing this one. I now have a gently used mud flap which I will NOT re-install.

There's another thread here about front fender mudflaps, it may be good to check that out. I made a mod to my broken fender back half and now can sport a mudflap with confidence. As far as the rear mudflap goes, would anyone care to share how they did theirs, I'm comptemplating on putting one there as well.

Visit the local RV accessories store and check into the 'dust broom' style water deflectors that I see on a lot of land Zeppelins. They look like really long fox tail whisk brooms and appear to do a good job, lots of long haulers use them instead of mud flaps

thanks for the head's up on the front fender. I will look at re-enforcing the mounting brackets if I go that way.
