| This has happened to me several times now in the last week. Cruising along, with the cruise control either powered on (but NOT set) or off, and the throttle sticks.... I either discover it when I left off the throttle and speed doesn't decrease, or when I go to shift gears and the engine bounces off of the rev limiter when I pull the clutch in. Also happened once in a parking lot when I was letting someone hear my exhaust by blipping the throttle (gently). It started bouncing off the rev limiter then too, and the cruise was not activated!
The momentary cure is to blip the throttle a couple times and it comes unstuck. I can't tell if this is a mechanical sticking problem, or an electronic one. It almost feels electronic though....
Has anyone else experienced this? |

| Here is the perfect example of what we should have where we live and what year and model bike we have posted in our profile.
#1 have you changed grips?
#2 have you changed cables of the bike?
#3 what have you messed with that you aren't telling us?
Find your manual and read about cable adjustment and then check your bike. It might be your return cable is out of adjustment |

Good guess. It was in my signature, which seems to oddly be missing now... hmm

| It was in my signature, but apparently the option to "use my signature" was turned off..... funny... cuz it was on previously....
Yes, I had already gotten a tip from kevinx to check the locknuts on the cable at the t-body attachment point. I do remember reading that thread when it was first posted, but thought it was on a different forum. Will be doing that when I get off work.

| That was it, the nut had backed off the threads of the throttle sleeve. Little bit of blue locktite and tightened her down. Should hold for a while. |

| It was listed under "Vision Tech Q&A" Heading. Not clear enough I guess? Here's your sign....
Let me beat the reply, "No year." |

Thanks, your reply was quite helpful and constructive...... guess you didn't read the post where I acknowledged that I conducted my search on the wrong forum initially.... you'll need your sign back.

Glad that the problem was easily corrected before something truly ugly happened.
Everyone who hasn't already done so should check that lock-nut. Ounces of prevention and all that. |

Posts: 208 Wichita, Kansas | I've had a similar thing, but my throttle just got sticky. The mounting nuts were fine. It happened 3 or 4 times. My throttle just got really tight and 'sticky'. I couldn't find a problem and since I knew about it I rode it. Twice it just suddenly started working normally about 15 minutes into the ride. Once it came home that way, after over an hour, but was cleared the next ride. Once it cleared after only a couple of minutes. The only common factor was temps were below 40 each time. I thought some thing got into the throttle cable but it has not happened again and that was almost 2 years ago, with many equally cold rides. |

It only takes a minute and you should do it every week .......maybe once and a while on a long ride.
