Posts: 639 Tri Cities, WA | Dont hold me to this but in the rear of the bike they can be red or amber. My wifes bike had amber and we switched to red and never had a problem or heard of anyone having any issue with either on the back, Now the front is whole other issue and they must be amber/orange in all 50 states. |

Posts: 763 Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | Motorcycles as well as cages must be either red or amber for the rear of the vehicle in the United States. Many OEM's use amber for contrast against the red brake and tail. Contrast is most likely the reason Victory decided to turn off the middle brake lights on the Vision when the turn signal is on. Had they used amber for the turn signal, the middle brake lights could legally stay on.
Red cannot be used for forward facing lights (except emergency vehicles). That's why there are no street legal vehicles with red front turn signals.

From the Texas motor dept ........The lamps showing to the rear shall be mounted on the same level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable and, when signalling, shall emit a red or amber light or any shade of color between red and amber. |

Posts: 1229 Rancho Cucamonga, CA | California Vehicle Code 24953 states (a) Any turn signal system used to give a signal of intention to turn right or left shall project a flashing white or amber light visible to the front and a flashing red or amber light visible to the rear.
As stated, this is based on federal codes (US DOT).
