Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | I'm interested in the ride, but I dont care for the iron butt. I've actually did a I.B. twice now and never bothered with the hassle of getting everything certified. Friends of mine did and it was a complete hassle and took 9 months before they received anything... But the ride sounds interesting.. |

Don't try the 49 state ride. I had 106 receipts to document on that trip.

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | For some of us it becomes a "challenge" to do the documentation for the IBA Steve. If I hadn't done the Redwing19 where the IBA team was there to sanction it, I probably still would not be a member of the elite club today. Even when I did the Redwing19 ride I had already done at least three 1,000 miles, the first one I documented, and got the witness statements but never sent it in. For me doing the 48 or 49 state ride I would love to do and document it, but the biggest challenge would be the documentation.
Enough of my ramblings, but if I would do another documented IB, I'd have to ride with someone just to remind me, don't forget the receipt! |

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | My old mc group said it was a Hassle when it took 9 months after all that work to finally get the stuff they worked so hard for. For me personally I don't need a special license plate holder or t-shirt etc. I've done a iron butt twice, and never cared for the documentation. The ride its self is what I was after. And to be honest... An iron butt on a vision is kinda cheating anyways... Radio, cruise control, heated seats, gps etc. My old group did it on kawasaki cruisers ... 800-1500 cc. Now that was hard! There isn't much roughing it when your on a world class touring machine..... Just opinion |

...you're right, on a Vision it is night and day. |

If the SS1000 is "too easy" try the 1500 mile day or the 2000 in 48 or 2000 in 36 or....... |

1500 miles in a day, that might be a good test for someone on a Vision.
I could be wrong but I think the idea behind this suggestion wasn't just to enter the IBA, but to see how many Victories could be involved in the event. Just my opinion. |

I have done the 1500 mile day on a Vegas and a Vision. My total trip time was quicker on the Vegas. This is called the National IRON BUTT Run. An Iron Butt ride is certified. Everything else is just a long ride. |

Steve, glad you stopped me. I was about to head out on that 49-stater, but the paperwork sounds daunting, so I'll see if Family Guy is on.

Posts: 825 , WI | What you need to document an IBA ride - Completed witness forms. You will need a start and finish witness. Copies of your receipt's. Your first receipt is your start time. Each receipt needs to show the time, date and place. Write the mileage on each receipt. A map that shows your route. A trip log - The trip log shows the info from your receipt's. Time, date, place, mileage and time zone. I use Excel for my trip log. This is the trip log from the BBG1500/ SS2000 Gold -

Would anyone here who follows both sites plan on keeping the string going with updates or should we continue checking the link? |

Posts: 161 Oregon. | Hey, I will try to keep this alive. I am not going to be able to participate in the ride. Wish I could, but, I have a commitment that I am unable to get out of. Wish I could, as I have done a SS1000, and just finished a BB1500 that I am waiting to have verified. I feel that another SS1000 to start the riding season would be great.

Posts: 494 Akron Ohio area | Well, it's only 830 miles from my house, so the "saddle sore" is not applicable.
Maybe I could schedule my anual Key West ride at that time and ride to Spirit Lake on my return trip. (almost 2,000 miles)
Still thinking about it.
Still not sure if this is a group "saddle sore" (1,000 miles) or "iron butt" ride (1,500 miles) |

Still not sure if this is a group "saddle sore" (1,000 miles) or "iron butt" ride (1,500 miles) I think you can complete any IBA ride on the way to Spirit Lake. SS1000 - 1000 miles / 24 hours BB1500 - 1500 miles / 36 hours BBG1500 - 1500 miles / 24 hours SS2000 - 2000 miles / 48 hours SS2000 Gold - 2000 miles / 36 hours SS3000 - 3000 miles / 3 days 10/10 - 10.000 miles / 10 days 30/30 - 30,000 miles / 30 days 48 states in 10 days (48-10) If you start in Alaska and end in Spirit Lake - 49 states in 10 days (48 Plus)
