Tourer
Posts: 307 Columbia, SC | FYI, I actually priced it out with another person who HAD a vision seat with backrest. You have to figure the cost of shipping your seat there, them shipping their seat here, plus throwing them cash for the actual backrest, and at that point, you're pretty much in the price range of buying your OWN backrest.
For example, lets figure 40 dollars each for shipping the seats back and forth. You know they're not gonna pay to ship their seat, so now you've paid 80 dollars. Well will they really just give up a 200 dollar backrest for free and not have it when trading in the bike? Lets say they charge even HALF of the initial cost of the backrest. That's 100 bucks. Now you've paid 180 dollars for a whole lotta work when you could have just bought a backrest for 20 dollars more.
I know I'm a "Debbie Downer", but after considering this with another owner, it just seemed like a lot of work for not enough savings. Also consider whether you have a heated seat or not, and whether they do or now and now you've limited it even more.
