Posts: 72 Chino Valley, AZ | Took my Vision's seat in to get recovered today (leather). Seams were tearing, two inches on the left and just starting on the right. May get it back on Friday. |

Posts: 492 Indianapolis, IN | The pics on facebook are great, for those that want to see the seat on the bike. Great Job Rusty! By the way, I love your bumper stickers, my wife was the first to notice them in your pics and was just cracking up behind me. I thought she was seeing something odd about your seat and then she said "check out the stickers on the truck". ;-0 |

Posts: 72 Chino Valley, AZ | Original quote was for $500.00, when I picked them up Jim said it didn't take as much leather as he first estimated so he only charged me $425.00 out the door. |

Nice work but that is an outrageous price. I have bought entire custom seats for much less. I would pay $200-250 tops for a recover in standard leather without any custom panels (snake skin, gator, etc...) |

Posts: 72 Chino Valley, AZ | Matt I would agree but you obviously did not see the pictures I posted to facebook. I tried to post them here but ran in to too many obstacles. The FB pics show that the two passenger panels were also redone. Another point is that the seat on the Vision is much larger than most other bike's seats and takes not only more leather but more time. If you can get your seat done at a lesser price more power to you. I went to the Victory Ride at Star Island Victory today and everyone there said that it was a great price and excellent work. Also, had I thought that the price was too high I would not have had Jim do the work. I am the Customer and "I" am very happy with the entire exchange. |

Posts: 72 Chino Valley, AZ | I spent last night saddle soaping the seats and back rests and then mounting them on my Vision. Today I took her out for a short ride and love the feel. the seat is much firmer and the rider's (built in) backrest really does support my back now. I was actually toying with the idea of getting the add on BR but now I don't need it.
Going out for about 500 miles tomorrow, that should be the real test. |

Don't get me wrong, the work is fantastic in every facet. What people charge for labor these days is astonishing. But I'm a cheap bastard if you ever met one, my wife always says "you want to pay 1/2 of what things are worth." Well maybe things just cost twice what they should? It is very sweet looking. |

Posts: 72 Chino Valley, AZ | Having been in business myself I am not against paying someone for their work as long as it is of good quality and not outrageously priced. With the rising costs of everything today I figured I got pretty good deal. Less than two days turn around. |

Posts: 72 Chino Valley, AZ | One thing I forgot to mention earlier. I can't remember where I read this, but someone mentioned a $75.00 fee for retaining the heated seat elements. According to Jim the elements are not a problem when just recovering the seat, the only time they would have to bew removed is if you are also having the padding trimmed or replaced. |

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | "Bitichin" looking seat!!! (This expression is from the late 60's when I lived in Orange County, CA.) Would like to have a leather covered seat but am looking to trade both "Hot Rod" and "Twister" if I can make the right deal on a 2011 8-ball. So is this true leather or nagahyde?

Posts: 72 Chino Valley, AZ | Took some scraps left over from the seat and made a pair of lever covers for the brake and clutch. I had some on an earlier bike that were much heavier and actually made using the levers cumbersome. This thinner leather is much nicer and actually slips through the gloves or fingers smoother than the bare levers. There are a some pics in my Gallery. http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/photos/photo-thumbnails.asp?albumid=556
