I don't understand why Victory elected to keep the battery almost totally exposed to the elements and road debris in the lower front frame of the bike.

Has anyone designed a "protector" of sorts to protect the battery?

Has anyone had, or heard of, problems because of this design? If not then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Either that or just get some sort of all weather blanket and rig it to cover the battery if you are worried.

Not that it will help you now, but when you need to change your battery if you go with the Odyssey dry cell battery you can buy one with a chrome metal jacket rather than the orange plastic jacket. An added benefit of which for hot climate users is an increase in the battery's operating temperature range specification.

I know the battery is kinda out front under the front rear fender back, but I have not read of any major or siginifcant issues on this board or with other Vision riders about battery being hurt or damaged due to the location...Perhaps there are some, but apparently few and far between....

There was a post a while back about a Vision rider having a front collision and the bike caught fire. I assume this was because of a ruptured fuel tank and the location of the battery.

Takes a spark or open flame to ignite fuel. Or extreme pressure.

Anything's possible... The auto ignition temperature of gasoline is 536*  Which is the temperature gas will ignite without a spark or flame

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Mine doesn't even get that dirty, not any worse than the rest of the bike. If the battery out front is a problem than the rectifier under the engine is a "disaster". I mean........???????????

Insurance takes care of fires. The battery I believe has a longer life being in a breez way like it is. My 08 still has the same Yuasa battery in it and going strong.

not that I know of, but I installed this small black mud flap on rear of front fender and it seems to keep most of the debris from kicking up and hitting the battery. http://www.roadhorsemotorcycleaccessories.com/mud-flap-for-victory-vision.html

Be careful about adding things like this to the vision front fender. Several have reported cracked mounting tabs on the rear portion of the front fender. If you add weight and wind resistance with mud flaps you will likely experience the same problem even sooner. Here's a link to a related thread:
