I want to get my passenger handholds chromed. I bought a set of new black handles My dealer sent them to a real Chromer he sent them back.

I have found a fellow on line says he can make them show quality 275. a piece.

Anybody done this ?

Hey bud, hows things?
I haven't done it but I was in our local body supply shop a while back and the guys there are Vic riders so we got to talking. They showed me this stuff that is a 3 step spary on chrome like finish. They had some examples of the finished product that I must admit did look impresive but again I say, I haven't tried it myself. Good luck with your search, I hope you find what you're looking for.

The same fellow who quoted me 275. said he would do the process for 75. each but did not guarentee results. The higher price is Eltro charged whetever but it is supposed to look good.

My dealer says he is on it I am waiting to hear prices and then will either have chrome or put the 2011 black ones on I already own them.

Just got a price of 450. for a pair.

So it can be done

It is possible, and reasonable.

Jay Leno had a segment on a product that will do it at a reasonable cost, and Jay dosen't endorse products:

You will also find internet search terms in the comments on the video.

Pick up a copy of HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS. There are plenty of ads from outfits that do rechroming on plastic dash bezels and interior trim pieces and grills, stuff that won't handle the temps in a metal plating tank-makes no difference which issue you pick up, the cars and ads never change from month to month

There is some info on this site that talks about grab rails being chromed and some of the folks on here had it done. there was a place on the east coast who could do it. damn what was the name of the vision owner who was doing that. Any other old timer forum guy remember who that was?

Had my rails done..they shuff and scratch easly..if you use tye downs on the rail or if the wife has lots of WallyMart jewelery on her fingers..
Good luck if she has a habit of holding on to the rail...scratch ..scratch ..scratch..

Next rails will be flat black..

Advanced Plating, Nashville, TN (they have a website) does show quality chroming of plastic. They are not cheap but they do a great job. They did my '03 airbox cover for $125 several years back. Very nice people to do business with. They also did both bumpers for my 1960 Ranchero that look fantastic.

There are two methods one is a paint like process it seems to be $75.00 for the pair.

Then there is an Electro plating process that is the $450.oo for the pair price.

My dealer has my 2011 Black plastic un painted handels ,these will get the more expensive process and hopefully be a quality product.

He was looking for a plater I sent him the web site for the one in Tn.

It will be 10 to 12 weeks from when they get the handles

I've wondered about this too. I heard that Jon at Witchdoctors can do it. I painted mine body color...
