How many bolts did you use to keep them on, 3 per side? The installation on yours looks top notch, can't wait until I can get some cash together for mine. |

Posts: 51 Arizona | Living in Arizona I can say that should have been my first purchase, but I lasted a whole year with a Frick'n hot ankle on the right side.
Only wish I had done it earlier. Can't wait to actually try them in the colder weather when we drop down to 50 degrees. LOL
I say that since it's 111 today. |

Posts: 277 Apopka, FL | Great purchase. Still have plastic ones. No problems thus far. I painted my black mounting brackets using Duplicolor to match the original paint very closely. I also applied a fine bead of clear silicone sealing all the foam adhesive. This should help in theory by keeping moisture from degrading the adhesive seal. Make sure you STOP before adjusting brackets. |

| Thanks for all of the advice. They should be in next week...torn between the adhesive and bolting them on?!?!?! I have a week to decide. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | kp - I guess it is not good to take advise from someone who doesn't know first hand but if I was to install these things on my Vision, they would be bolted on descretely. By doing so, I would never have to worry with them flying off, or something knocking them and coming off. The adhesive, done correctly would probably hold well for a couple of years in a varity of climates, however, beyond that the potential exist for degrading of the hold. When you least expect it, whooom, there goes your junk flying off and getting run over. Between a simple bolt-on and the glue should prove to keep a professional install appearance that will never worry whether you did the job right or not.
My general assessment of this logic comes from the adhesive used to hold on junk from the manufacturer, that given about 5 years starts coming off. These things are wings, subject to hard sustained winds in various elements and tempature changes if you are an avid rider. Would you glue on airplane wings? I think not.
Keep in mind also, you can glue, and then run a bolt through later. Just a thought. |

| Just had a pair installed at the 500 mile service and well worth it. Had to pay retail for them (ouch!) but still worth it after riding around in 95-100 degree heat this summer. The initial cost can be a big pill to swallow but look at it over the life of the bike or the number of times you ride and it makes that pill a lot easier to swallow. |

Posts: 395 Moravia, IA | Ive never had a problem with the factory ones....even adhesived on. My bike slid on its side busting all the front plastic work up in a recent wreck.....the lowers were still stuck on there....even kinda holding the broken plastic together.
I have, however, had the screws come out of the uppers and loose one of those but it was replaced quickly under warranty. |

Playing devil's advocate here.... wings may not be glued ON aircraft, but some are glued TOGETHER.

| 3M was the company that developed VHB tape which is probably the same stuff used to fasten the lowers. There are a couple of grades of the VHB used depending on material and indoor/outdoor use. From what I have read in the past the aircraft industry has used the stuff for years. Talk to any body shop and they will tell you much of the trim on the outside of the vehicle is attached with VHB tape. I know first hand the stuff is a royal pain if you need to remove it. |

Yeah - mine were glued - but when I got back from our Grand Canyon trip - one was falling off - just about gone. So I bolted them. Better sooner than later .... |

Posts: 752 Broken Arrow, OK | Mine were on the front porch when I got home today. They won't go on until after the holiday weekend. I might consider a countersinking style with chrome allen head, countersunk screws., who knows.
Leaving the bike with a pin striper over the weekend, speaking of which, hope everyone has a good holiday. |

Posts: 48 Simpsonville, SC | My right side lower flew off the bike at 75MPH 2 weeks ago, found the brackets all sraped up and the plexiglas had shattered. Dealer installed them so he is standing behind it and replaced it over the weelend but wanted to keep the bike 24 hours to make sure the adhesive cures before exposing to wind stress. We didn't let the first set cure that long. Thinking about going to the mounting screws just to be sure. |

The lowers (coupled with the heated seat and grips) do extend my riding season to all year long, and I live only 100 miles from Charlotte.
