Posts: 112 Denver, Iowa | I have a really long story from this past weekend (but I'll try to keep it short), about a fella from Indiana, that we met at a dealership in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His Vision had broke down twice on his way to the AVR, and he was stuck in town. The Vic dealer can't fix the bike that day, blah, blah, blah, so he calls his wife to bring the truck to Iowa to pick him up and take him home.
He had a 116 inch Lloyd's motor, cammed (of course), head work, diamond cut cylinders (it's not a Ness Vision either), on Nitrous. He was scheduled to be on Lloyd's dyno on Sunday (never been dyno'd on laughing gas, yet). And he had ridden it from Indiana to Iowa until he ran into problems.
Since the dealership wasn't going to help a broke down Victory rider, I made some calls for help to try to get him going again, myself. Unfortunately for the circumstances we were in, we couldn't repair the bike without the proper tools, or parts. But I do have to give a shout out to two people that I called... and they were more than helpful to diagnose the charging problem, and possible solutions to getting this guy back on the road, ASAP!
Rich King, former factory H-D speedway racer, and Rylan Vos, authorized Lloyd's gearhead!
King was racing in Peoria, Illinois that night, and Vos was at the AVR, so neither could fix the Vision on Saturday. But both would be home late, and could try to get this guy going on Sunday morning... in time to ride to Spirit Lake and get dyno'd.
This guy was super-appreciative of our efforts to help him out. But, he sounded like he was just gonna skip the AVR, though, and go home. There was nothing else we could do for him at that time, so we shook hands and parted ways.
But I never got his name...
He did say he doesn't play these chat rooms, so he isn't on here.
This Vision was his second Victory. His first Vic, a V92C, had over 150,000 miles on it. This Vision had 55,000 miles. He is a part of some charity ride around the 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway once a year. He liked doing 120 mph down the straights until the bikes computer shut it down. Lloyd was going to take care of that issue on Sunday, by installing the max speed override thingamadoodle, before he dyno'd it.
So fellas? Any idea who this guy may be? And did he make it home OK? Two things have really bothered me and my wife since Saturday afternoon... first of all, that we couldn't get him on the road right away, and second of all, that he made it home, fine. Thanks for your help!

Posts: 164 Quad Cities, IL | I appreciate the effort you guys made! This is what I love about this community, a great network of folks for sure. I have met Rich King a few times in W'loo at his Victory dealership. I was bummed when I learned he closed up his shop. In fact, I'm in Waterloo this week and I made a point to stop in most times I was in town. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Rylan yet but chatted with him once through e-mail. I think I have some work lined up for him in the near future too. I like supporting those that support us.
Hope you find out who our fellow Vision rider in IN is. | |
