Well, I did it. I traded in my 2008 for a 2011 Vogue Silver Vision this week. I will get the bike next week, after the accessories I ordered come in and get installed. I did this for a couple of reasons, but the main one was ABS. I am also concerned that the Vision may be short-lived with all the continued hype around the XC tour and wanted to make sure I had the latest version in the color I like. I'm also getting ready to add a Bushtec hitch in preparation for the trailer early next year and figured I should do this before I add anything more to the bike.

Goodbye, old friend. You have never let me down and you will be greatly missed.

Sat do me a favor. Read the part about the brakes real close. I was told with ABS your suppose to use the rear brake more then the front.

I find that hard to believe. I'm stuck with a 08 but don't mind.

Congrats on the new bike! Have no fear. The Vision is not going anywhere anytime soon.

They will still have the VV available to pull those potential BMW and Goldwing riders into the family. Victory / Polaris acknowledge they have a very rabid bunch of loyal enthusiasts in the VV Family, and they will not alienate their loyal supporters. Especially when H.D. has an 80 + share and all of the other manufactures are competing for the remainder shares in the market.

Now the Cross bikes were obviously designed to compete with H.D. and pull the Harley Riders over to the V. family. Which they are doing a tremendous job.

What I'm trying to say in a nutshell. You have 2 entirely different demographics for each line.

Its true, John. It isn't because of ABS but due to the way they have it linked front and rear. If you use the front lever by itself you won't get much stopping power. If you use the rear pedal by itself it is better and if you use both at the same time like I do it stops REALLY well! I also changed out the stock pads for EBS HH and that made it about 20% better yet. For a big bike this thing stops surprisingly well now.

According to my 2011 vision owners manual, there is nothing in there about abs and using the resr brake more than my 2008 vision. There is a sensor on the front and rear wheels . It uses Both wheels to calculate if you are skiding or not.... No special instructions with my 2011 vision.

+1 My 2010 with ABS is the bomb! Like was said earlier you can use front or rear controls individually, rear being linked with front, but if you need both to stop quick you can haul this bike down fast! And you will not lock them up into a skid. I'm sold on the Vic ABS system.

Congrats you guys on the trade up to '11s. Once you've been riding for a few months write something up as far as a comparison review. You guys that are trading up have the best perspective for comparing the old trans and other features to the new ones. Keep us posted.

Well done, you've made the same transition asme, not part eying a cherry vision as well? Found the colour Silver grows on me as time goes by, the abs and 5000 intervals are winners plus the new radio far better.

JF, being "stuck" with an 08 that you like isn't a bad thing! Unless your talking about another brand!!

The front brake will still do 70%+ of the stopping.
Applying only the front brake will not effect the rear brake.
It isn't linked to the rear brake.
The rear brake is linked to the front brake but only minimally.
You should use both until you get to parking lot speeds where you should not use the front brake unless you want to test out the tip-overs.

Edmond, OK 2012 Vision, 2012 Cross Country

Congradulations on the new VV. I made the upgrade to an '11 Nov. 19, 2010 after my 2009 was destroyed on Sept. 4, 2010. My new Vision now has 17,300 miles on it. I myself can't tell the difference in the two bikes. However I do like the ABS, which is what I get from the HD riders as well ( all bull s...) I think they are just jealous of the bike. I personally think this bike is way ahead of its time, which is a good thing. If you look back to the old Studebaker cars and how they looked and no one liked them either, look at the car designs today and see just how much they look like the Studebaker in the design.

I recently took my Vision on a 3000 mile road trip, the states were as follows, AR, TN, MS, AL, GA, TN, NC and back to OK. I was going to go to Spirit Lake for the AVR, after having been out for a few days I took my bike in for a small checkup to make sure everything is still good ( I baby this bike) and the front fork seals were leaking. The dealer got them covered under warranty for me. However the service manager told me Vic questioned my service records in this situation since I did not have them serviced at the 15,000 mike interval as reccomended. He did inform them I had been out on a road trip and just got back and they covered the repair. It seemed to me they didn't want to pay for this. I did however tell my lovely wife had it not been covered I would be doing some bike shopping and probably purchase a HD. Yeah, I know its HD and I would have to carry duct tape to keep it together and have magnets for my buddies to carry to get the parts for me that i loose but oh well. I am assuming the riding we did on the trip could have something to do with the seals, we rode the Tail of the Dragon a couple of time and rode it the first time rather hard. With the constant rise and fall of the road and speeding up and then slowing down so quick in the curves do give them a workout but they still shouldn't leak one drop in my view.

I do feel that Vic should be pushing the Vision and Crosses at the same time to eveyone. I think they need to get them into the Hollywood scene to allow them to be in the movies or something since that is where the HD's are for the most part and free advertising with the reruns and such. We know it and everyone else needs to know that we have the best bikes on the road by far.

I hope you enjoy the new bike be sure with the gray color you put the Piaa lights on it as well due to when it get cloudy outside gray is hard to see by anyone. Do this for yourself and family and safety reasons. Ride Safe my brothers and sisters.

Congrats on the new 2011....I almost bought that one from Bairs, but went with the Crimson red from them. Enjoy your new Vision and let me know if you want to ride sometime.

It's amazing how a few things put on here and there are taking HOURS to remove (so i can put them on the new bike). 3 hours in, about 3 to go.
