Went out this morning for a ride/scouting mission up local Hwy 20 to a little town called Marblemount. Hadn't expected to encounter 4 miles of 1/2 minus gravel while the state DOT does a 'chipping topover'. I hate gravel and grooved pavement but this was a really good chance to see how SYNSTR handled the stuff. a bit squirrely but less than the VENTURE ROYALE and never felt like it wanted to step out sideways, all in all I'll pass when I can but I'm a lot more confident in the VISIONS abilities (and the E3's) handling in that situation, albeit @ 20 or so MPH, but Mom raised ugly kids, not stupid ones!

Rode 25 miles of windy twisty mountain gravel once on my VV - handled like a dirt bike - even with 2 aboard. I now never fear running into that. Now - gravel on top of pavement - that's something ALL bikers should fear ...

Yeah.. Chipseal season here in the Great Northwest. Not askeered of the gravel-terrified of trying to get the tar off though...

We're heading to San Juan Island - Friday Harbour this weekend. I hope we avoid that stuff !!!
Bikers aught to get together to BAN 'Tar Snakes' - based on Keep A Biker Alive safety reasons. I hate that shit - especially in the U.S. Not so bad here.

As long as you're headed for Lopez Is. be sure and keep an eye open for two of the Islands biggest landowners and residents Pat O Day and rocker Steve Miller. Pat O'Day was a Seattle rock DJ who has/had huge power in 60's R&R bands and who did and didn't 'make it' big (Paul Revere and the Raiders, Merrilee Rush, GOOGLE him) and later he started a little local ticket service called Concerts West that became Ticket Masters (or ticket &astards). And Steve Miller (Fly like an Eagle, Space Cowboy) has so much money he never needs to touch a guitar ever again. Lots of big big name rockers live in Western Washington because we tend to leave them alone.

When you ride on sealcoating P rock you should grab a old brush and check your belt for unwanted rocks

yes, really, check out the belt, it may be too late to save the belt, but at least you'll know you need to change it before it leaves you stranded.

I have riden Hwy 20 many times. Very awesome road when there is no road work. Just an FYI if you ride Lopez Island. You can do the whole thing in about an hour or so tops. We rode it back in 06.
