8200 miles in 11 months and the rear is almost worn out. Seems to have worn more on the left side than the right. I will try the Darkside. I plan to use a 185 Potenza because I might get a hitch before I wear out the tire. I do have a question though. Have any of you using a ct tried Dyna Beads or something similar and if so how much weight? Please don't turn this into a debate. Thanks in advance.

I saw a post either here or on VMC about putting 2 ounces in the tire you are getting.

When dyna beads first hit the scene they were not being recommended for regular car tires... Quoted from Dyna Beads www.innovativebalancing.com "We don't market to cars, SUV's or minivans due to the overall style of those tires, which usually have a low aspect ratio. We classify tires with a low aspect ratio "low-profile". Low profile tires often need lateral balance correction that can only be rectified with the use of standard wheel weights applied to both the inside and outside rim. So that means that while Dyna Beads should not be used as the sole balancing method for these tire types, you can use Dyna Beads as a "Maintenance Amount". Using a combination of weights and Dyna Beads results in higher tire mileage and a reduction, or elimination, of future rebalancing requiements. For the proper amount.

with and without dyna beeds, my E3's never lasted over 10k miles. I am a very aggressive rider, always in the mountains on twisties. I have gone darskide and will never go back.

wtwhitelaw You don't have were you live so I'll guess you don't check your air. In the hot months or even the cold months check you air once a month. In the hot weather I will loose 4 to 6 pounds and not so much in the cold but you do. If you keep you tire up you might get 15 thousand out of them I get real close to that when I had a MC tire in back. Now even with a CT I check my air I don't need to spend money cause I'm lazy. Get a good tire gauge and lay on the floor. Check tire when cold not when its hot.I run 36 pounds in my car tire and will not go

back to a MC tire

I know what preventive maintenance is as well as how to do a proper pretrip. I do it 5-6 days a week on 18 wheels. The air pressure has been maintained, I have no good explanation as to why the tire is so worn. Why did it wear more on the left than the right? Bad tire??? Too many lefts and not enough rights? The local Bridgestone/Firestone dealer said they can't get the tire I want. Kauffman tire said they can for $191.00. Now I'm looking for options that others have used with sucess on the Vision. The Potenza is my first choice because so many have used it with good service.

you will love the darkside. My E3's were just like yours. I run the Hankook Ventus v4 on my rear (higher speed, weight rating, than the Bridgestone and also has beed lock) has a more rounded profile as well. 41 PSI seems to be the sweet spot for me for hard twisties

How much of a crown do your roads have? If they are high crowned then the left side of your tire will wear faster.

You might also want to try "Ride On" in your car tire they have different formulas for different types of tires.

I have not heard of that before, thanks for the heads up. You use this in your tires? Do you use the auto or MC version for a CT on a MC? Did you use any other balancing method besides the Ride On? This might also work in the trucks at work.

Wayne, I mounted a 175/60r/16 Dunlop SP Winter Sport with a hitch doc installed.

Have 5000 plus miles on this CT, handles great, been running 35-36lbs of air. The bike odometer is dead on with the GPS odometer too.

When you do change your tire make sure they inspect the bearing. Ya just never know.
I went to discount tire and had my Potenza in three days $118 out the door. 41 pounds made the bike wiggle around to much went to 35 and its just like the E3 but better.

Thanks to all. I didn't know that there were other useable sizes, that's good to know since I'm having a hard time locating what I want locally. (I try to support local small business and buy American when possible.) hecking the bearing is a good idea.

First of all, what bike are you riding?

My 2011 Vision has 14,000 miles on it and it still has both original tires.
The front looks like it could go another 8,000 miles and the rear still has a thousand or maybe even two thousand miles or more before it hits the wear bars.
I've had motorcycles wear out tires in as little as 6,000 miles, so I am very happy with my Vision's OEM tires.

Why do you have to wait for warranty to expire before going with a car tire? Did I miss reading that you had to run a motorcycle tire or lose your warranty?

I thought the same thing, but all the research I did agreed w/Handy - Won't void warranty unless it can be proven the ct was the direct cause of the accident, and that having a mt would have prevented it. Almost impossible as long as the ct is dot approved.
