Going to try a 24hr Border to Border ride in September and a 49 states in 10 days next May/June, so I wanted to get a little extra room. Found these from RotopaX http://www.rotopax.com/ . They have many different containers and mounting options to choose from. EBAY had the best prices.
The gas can is 2 gal. - there are other sizes as well
The black case holds 300 ci and will hold my tools and first aid kit.
They had pre made first aid kits, but as a Paramedic, I'd rather make my own.

So what do you pack in the first aid kit?

Nice! They remind me of the Kolpin setup I put on my TW200. Do you have a bag for behind you? I found a very cool one that fits perfectly for me. Here is a picture:

I have one very similar with the Victory logo that I got from this forums classifieds. It attaches nicely to the hand grabs.

I'm still working out what tools to carry for the trip. I'm afraid I might take too many ( too used to Harley trips).

Where is your water?

One of the things long distance riders often overlook is hydration.

If you have read Rollin's adventures you know that even he experienced some hydration problems.

I keep at least 2 liters of water packed away in case of a breakdown and always buy 2 bottles of water/GatorAid at every fill-up.

I only have to use the bathroom maybe twice on a thousand mile day, so all that water was sucked up by my body which kept me alert and without muscle cramping.

Have fun!

Water is not in my first aid kit, it is on my handlebars and in the saddlebags. Since it gets used often, I don't put it in the kit. The sunscreen was only mentioned because I keep a small tube of it in the first aid kit, but I also carry a bigger bottle as well.

I reccomend everyone who rides to take a first aid course and pack a kit. The military gave me the opportunity to teach basic and advanced first aid. If it pays off one time, it will have been worth it.
