I am along time harley rider, looking to upgrade.
I took a 09 Vision out for a ride, and loved it, but I have an issue with side opening saddle bags.
Is it just me, or would a vision with cross country bags answer the buffeting questions for the X-C,
and the storage issues for the VV?
Not to mention the quick release top case, on the X-C would be very handy |

Posts: 231 Desert Hot Springs (Palm Springs area), CA | I went back and forth between a XC or Vision... until I saw my Nessy - 2009, #150. The bike just spoke to me... I too was concerned about the capacity of the Visions bags, until actually using it. So far, they work well and are actually larger in usage (if that makes sense) than they appear. For what I paid for the Ness Vision, I am way ahead of the game over buying a XC and then putting on a new seat, handlebars, lowers and a different windshield... |

Posts: 323 Troy, NY | My wife and I can do a week trip no problems with the storage the Vision has. I added the trunk rack....so that helps too. If you knew my wife, then you would know this means a lot - LOL. |

Posts: 193 Buford, GA United States | I bought the vision luggage for the side saddle bags and we can get more than we ever thought we could in them. You pack the luggage with the clothes on the side and you kind of roll them into the saddle bags. We always end up then with extra space in the top trunk for any extras my wife needs. |

Pack your Harley bags with what you normally carry and head to your local Victory dealer and pull a Vision up next to your Harley and take all of the things you packed in the Harley and pack them into the Vision. You are going to be surprised what you can fit in the Vision ! |

| People only look to the inside and for get the outer bag is designed for storage.
I have harley bag liners and fill them full and slid into the vision just fine. |

Posts: 154 Danbury, Connecticut | Funny, I just did the demo ride and told the guy after riding the cross country I love my Vision but if they merged the front of the Vision with the rear of the XC I'd be writing a check for a new bike. I would still keep my Vision though. You can cram a lot in the side cases but it would be so much easier with those top loaders. I think style-wise it might be more appealing to some than the VV rear, some folks just don't like those lines. |

| The problem with the lack in size of the Vision's saddlebags is simply a matter of perception. Much of the volume of the saddlebags is in the lids and therefore when you pack the saddlebag you can have stuff hang out at the top of the bag and the lid will close right over it. |

I recently test rode a couple of Harleys the other day and find them, well, totally inadequate in power and comfort. I'd take the precieved lack of storage on the Vision any day to have the ride that it provides. That's what really matter, isn't it? |

I love my Harley, it has had zero issues, so far (05 Heritage)
But, as I close in on my 50th (27 yrs riding), I am looking for more weather protection.
It's warm enough (west coast) to ride 9 months of the year, if you can stay dry or warm.
Been able to ride all 12 months the last 2 years, thanks to the folks at Gerbings.
3 Things that are steering me away from HD are
- Oil Changes can be messy
- Dealers treat you as a walking checkbook
- If you have the dealer do all the recommended maint. it costs about $.20 km ($.32 mi.) to own.
I understand, and support regular maint.
In order to keep my extended warranty valid, they are sucking me dry.
Enough piss'n and moan'n.
I am Looking, and trying as many different bikes as I can, but I'm lovin' the looks of the Vision 8 Ball.
P.S. My wife rides her own bike, except on long trips. So, for most of the year a top case would be in the garage.(explaining my concerns about the saddle bags) |

As much as I love my 8 ball, had I known all the little differences (such as a cable clutch instead of hydralic <sp> I might have bought a black Vision and just removed the trunk, and lowered it. So, be sure to look at ALL the little differences when you make your purchase. As for the Hard bag storage....... it seems to be plenty for this guy! I mean hell, I want a motorcycle not a baggage carrying truck! LOL |

| I have to tell you that my wife and I just got back from a 30 day 5600 mile ride all over the East coast. The amount of stuff she was able to get in those side bags was amazing. She would bring everything down in a big nylon bag and then pack the bike one piece at a time. She had one hell of a system and before you knew it the big bag would be empty. We also used a Saddlemens Medium Fastback bag which sat on the rear rack with no trunk (don't like its looks). We had everything we needed including her 5 pairs of shoes (!) and my big tool roll. We never needed extra space. By the way, we did this ride with my '11 and my old '10 that I sold to my friend and had absolutely zero issues with either bike other than my belt chirps. The Vision fully loaded rides like a damn car. Unbelievable! Hit a bump and it just soaks it up. This thing might be my favorite bike so far :-) |

Do plenty of comparing of the different configurations, 8ball, ness, tour. There are many differences in the details as maddmax stated above. Don't forget ABS brakes. I mean hell, I want a motorcycle not a baggage carrying truck! LOL This right here is key. There was a thread on the VMC where a guy purchased an 8-ball Vision for the looks. He then wanted the creature comforts that come on the Tour model so he began the upgrades: pwr windshield, radio, cruise, etc, etc, etc. All in all it cost him MORE to upgrade the 8-ball then if he would've purchased a tour and removed trunk, add cover plate (to cover the hole left behind), lower and then begin blacking out some of the chrome parts (personal choice here of course). These are the small details that can be easily overlooked when making a purchase. Tell you honestly, I hated the looks of the Vision in the beginning and told myself... Nope,never ever gonna happen. I'm keeping my Jackpot...I had some MAJOR upgrade plans for that ride! Well after a long ride and the wife complaining about being cramped on the JP we went to the dealer and after a 30 min test ride.... we took home a new Tour that day! Currently just crossed 7 months of ownership and averaging almost 1k miles per month. I'd love to remove the trunk but wife loves it and since the passenger sissy bar is no longer offered it'll just stay there waiting to be packed full of anything I want, LOL. Everything is just so much easier on this bike...is just crazy to think about what I was missing out on with the Jackpot. |
