| Being new to the Vision, I am looking for opinions/ideas on lowers for the fairing...Guy at Vic Demo ride today said these things make a big difference on the road....Any comments on OEM or aftermarket lowers would be appreciated...Also, are they worth the money???Thanks |

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | I thought they were overpriced until I got a set and installed them. They really do make a big difference on the road. They can be set to pull air into the rider's space during hot weather, and they make the bike bearable to ride in 100 degree weather. Turned out, they keep air and rain off you. Mine are the factory plastic ones. So far, they've held up but I'm careful to not get too rough with them. If they ever break, I'll get a set of the aftermarket metal ones. You have to have the factory hinges to use the aftermarket deflectors anyway.
I wouldn't call them particularly attractive, but they do work as advertised and I wouldn't be without them.

Posts: 2118 Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | My new 'factory' deflectors were put on before our recent ride thru the West. We had krazy winds, and my speed was as high as 95 MPH. When I got home, I saw that one of the glued pieces was half lifted. I was able to 'press' it back on - but I am concerned - and need a perminent 'fix'.
As for having them after 3 years of NOT - yes, I am glad the CoPilot bought them for me. So - they are now a perminent 'need' for me ...

Posts: 599 New Mexico | Installed before I bought my new '09 about a year ago, and really really happy to have them. Makes cold, heat, & rain much more bearable.
Broke my right side one last week (stupidity - ran into pole) and am really missing it.

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | Don, and everyone else, if you like the lowers and they are there to stay, run a single chrome bolt through the forward edge on each one. There's room to miss the fuel tank and to put a washer and a nut, or so it seems. Then you'll never have to worry about them flying off now, or down the road (no pun intended... well, maybe).
Also, if they come off, they will be hard to find, so you'll have a broken lower and a missing bracket, making it impossible to simple put on an after market.
Oddly, removing the top fin, and since I have no lowers either, I have less of a heat concern, which is okay by me, it has never bothered me. |

Posts: 8 El Paso, TX | I live in El Paso, TX, and the weather here has not been below 100 in about 2 weeks (so it seems). The temp has been as high as 112 on my temp gauge. The lowers are PRICELESS!!!
Don't get me wrong, 112 at 65 mph still feels like 112, but the lowers have made such a difference allowing air flow over my legs.
It took me a couple months to decide to fork over the $200+ to get them, but it was so worth it. I highly recommend them.

Posts: 323 Troy, NY | The lowers are a must IMO. They are great in the cool weather and very nice in the hot weather. If I bought a new Vision, the lowers would be my top choice for an accessory. The only down fall to the Victory lowers is the plastics is delicate. Many people on this forum have bought the lowers for the brackets and then bought from CycleOps the replacements for the fragile plastic. I still using my plastic pieces.....when they do break I'll be getting the replacement shields from CycleOps. They are well worth the price since you will be using them every time you ride! FYI - I have 12k use out of mine with no problems. |

| They say 102 today but I don't feel it on my leg whats so ever. Cold weather no big deal. Rain sucks no mater what.

Posts: 82 Fargo, ND | Look on EBAY or Craigs list in your area and find someone who took off the factory lowers and see if you can pick them up a bit cheaper than your dealer wants. Then throw away the plastic blades or use them for dustpans in your shop. Go to CycleOps.com and buy some color matched powdercoated ones from Will. As for the 3m tape that comes on the hardware... get rid of it and go to your local bobyshop and see if they will sell you about 12" of the tape they use for body side molding on cars and a couple of prep pads with the glue accelerator on them. I am talking from experience here. Lost both factory lowers on my way to Sturgis last year and was able to find the hardware along side the highway with shards of plastic still attached to them. Will at CycleOps shipped a set to me and I used the body shop adheasive to mount them. Now I can adjust them as I am driving by hooking them with the toe of my boot and either push or pull them to the desired angle without fear of cracking them. I am also in the process of replacing the upper blades with CycleOps' metal ones. If you cant find them elsewhere then bite the bullet and get a set from the local dealership and follow the above procedure. You will have to invest in new ones eventualy and you might not be able to find the hardware when it flies off. NOTE!!! Make sure you do not ride your scooter for 48 hrs after you mount the lowers. The adheasive needs to completely cure and dry until you take it out in the wind. Good luck |

My dealer is constantly telling the factory rep that they should be installed at the factory on every Vision.
If you get them, don't use your foot to adjust them.

Thanks for the info on the auto body paint. I have had my lowers on for two years with the factory tape...if they fail I'll be sure to do the auto body tape! |

Posts: 100 Hudson, Ohio | I have a 2011 Vision and had the dealer install the factory lowers and uppers. I bought the bike in May....I have already replaced the factory shields with the CycleOps billet version. They were pricey but I like the black shields due to color combo on my bike.
I will sell you the shields if you are interested. IMO they are a must. |

Posts: 162 Extreme Southern, AZ United States | I got the wing whippers. They need to have two holes drilled, but never have problems with them lifting off the bike. I did lose one of the top (they have two) and replaced both top pieces with a chrome diamond plate ones I cut out and bent to match the original. Will be replacing the other (lower) ones using the chrome diamond plate as well. Get lotsa positive comments on them. They work very well too.
