Fountain Inn, SC United States | Whether or not to delete classified ads that have products that SOLD has been an ongoing dilemma. Anyone that starts a thread in the Classifieds forum has the power to edit it, add to the thread, and to delete the thread. I'd like your input on what procedure works best and we'll then enforce it.
On one hand, it's nice to look and see what's been sold and how much it went for so an ad shouldn't be deleted.
On the other, wading through ads that are closed (marked in the title) is a pain so all SOLD ads should be deleted.
What's your take?
When an Item has been SOLD... |

Put the burden of re-posting on the poster. Too many people are not responsible enough to come back and delete an add everywhere they posted one, if they can remember, and as a 'free' service, it shouldn't be a burden on the webmaster. My opinion of course.

Another thought would be a pop-up letting anyone posting to the classifieds know that they can edit the add if the item sells. |

I agree, the rules have already been posted and people aren't abiding by them. Hopefully there is some way to have them deleted after x amount of time has elapsed. If not then just delete them after 30 days. |

| 30 days seams very short I would vote for 60 and no more. By all means just have them go away |

Perhaps add a subforum in the classifieds that only contains SOLD items.
Have all other classifieds purge every 90 days or so, if items don't sell in 90, they probably are not going to sell.
