Well, The Victory people in the factory know. The R&D people know.
Alas , we don't know yet ?
Am I making a lot of hoopla out of nuttin ?
I want a Vision redesign with bigger side bags for 2012 !
It's not too much to ask for, but it's needed.
Who's with me on this ?

I with you. I am still sitting on the fence for a new bike and that would tip the scales closer to the Vision for me.

Just got back from a 4900 mile ride over 12 days with one lay over, Panama City, mountains of Colorado and parks thru out Utah and Independence Pass. This was a shorter ride for me and did ok with storage. My previous other and I road a number 8-9 thousand mile rides over three weeks and the Ultra was challenged in storage capacity. No offense to Vision owners but the storage is a needed improvement for a long distance tourer.

I would also like to see a small efficient assist to cooling the drivers legs like some have mentioned on here.

I am still favorable on the Vision but those two things would put me over the hump and make me a vision owner.

How much stuff do you take a long? I leave the kitchen sink home and do laundry at least once if not twice on a trip and have so so room.

Well thanks for your thoughts and obligatory sarcasm. Your type is on every brands forums.

I felt comfortable with my post since the thread was about my concern. Also felt comfortable since many Vision owners agree with the lack of storage.

First I actually ride and don't just sit around typing how intelligent I am all day. Making sure I post totally useless comments on a thread you already know what it was about and could have moved on.

Second the ride I just took went from very hot weather to very cold weather and rain.

I did wash twice while I was gone but actually like clean close daily, do you?

The longer rides with 2 up would have been nearly impossible with those bags.

Now move on to some other thread you have nothing to add and rain on their parade.

Please search the threads also and see how many times this is mentioned by the current owners.

Watching this conversation, I've already had it a dozen times. Because of construction constraints the VV saddlebags are smaller inside than originally planned and therefore are smaller than the saddlebags on any Harley bagger and MUCH smaller than the Cross Country. I don't know about the Goldwings bags.

Thanks for the comment and I appreciate your sincerity.

I want to apologize to anyone I may have offended reading my reply. I am aware that my Ultra has short comings also.

But wjoe| started this thread and I am just agreeing with him.

Larger side bags would be a be plus for me. For those that do not want or need them I respect your opinion.

We intend to buy a new vision this year (the wing is going up for sale) larger bags would be the difference of buying an 2011 or a 12. Pack a DSLR, small tripod and the wifes purse etc and you fill up fast. For the multi weeks trips we end up pulling the trailer or the hitch rack at least. In either case, bigger bags or not, I intend to own a new VV this year. Now I just need to get off my arse and list the wing for sale.

Just for information.BMW RT has almost the same volume of storage. I think + 1/2 litter. I will be curious to see how much more volume they will achieve. There will always be enough/not enough storage debate. If you base your purchase on volume or styling it is just personal opinion. Just ride.

If you tour more than once a year or for any extended durations luggage storage is always a concern and most would consider that in their decision on which ride to purchase. That being said, for me it worked out pulling an escapade resolved the issue, for someone else it may not and the size of the bags is even more important.

Why wait??? If bag size is so important to some, go buy the Cross Country with top box and leave the Vision design to those who choose it...Maybe bigger bags would be nice for some, but IMHO it would ruin the complete look of the current Vision.........

Bigger would be nice if it doesn't sacrifice the styling. Trailer for cross country/more than a week trip makes sense regardless how much bigger they can make bags. The more space = more shit my wife will try to bring. So, I actually think the current space does fine for me. I do have the rack for the trunk....if I didn't have that I would be seriously space limited on week long trips.

I would love larger bags. I overpack to rack on the trunk at times. I have taken to wearing shirts that can be washed out in the sink at night and hung to dry by AM--UnderArmor long sleeve tees work real well. I love the Vision, It handles fully loaded better that anything I have had so far. It is a keeper and plan on doing just that.

The Visions saddle bag capacity just plain sucks! Now do I want Victory to screw up the looks of the bike to give us more space...........of course not. I want them to re-engineer the bags to use all the space they wasted in the original design. I'm glad my wife rides her own bike or there would be no place for my T-Bag (which actually has a lot of room)

I didn't really start this debate.
Victory did and they know it.
Planned obsolescence.
If it did in fact, take 5 years to design this bike, a novice could have seen the smaller space inside the bags.
Having said this, Victory will one day soon, make the Vision with bigger bags.
Of course, soon is relative !

Maybe they'll discontinue the Classic Vision and build an Indian Vision complete with tassles - then I'd give up my classic Vision.

why wait? Why not, if its only a month or so before they announce next years model why not wait to see if there are any changes one might want to pay more for? Might not be anything to do with storage, could be more displacement or?. With such a short time span to find out, I cant imagine not waiting.

I feel the size is adequate for the riding I do. I had a Suzuki C90T before the vision, and rode the Suzuki to Mount Rushmore. I live in Western Oregon, so the trip was rather long. So my wife and I packed alot of stuff. I have been looking at Visions since they came out and knew the side bags were not huge. What I think is, with the trunk, and the side bags, I would ride it with my wife as far as Mount Rushmore again. We have learned through our experiences that less is more. A little planning with preparation, and some laundry detergent goes a long way.

Brian, everyone has different needs. When we go on long hauls I like to take the dlsr, a tripod, some medical gear I require, an extra jacket, be it mesh tech or other. My SO always has at least one extra coat. Even on my wing its packed full fast. I'm not sure how much differance there is in the side bags between the VV and the wing but it appears substantial. Having not owned a vision (YET) I cant say just how much differance there really is. I understand the less is more but I've done day after day of riding 500-800 miles in the rain and it is miserable without the rain gear. This too takes room as well, everything adds up. Anyway in my case every bit counts. Again everybody has diff needs.

Never know, this year the only change could be in color options. Im willing to wait a couple of months to find out what changes may or may not be.

I've done my share of cross country riding, and the Vision, as is, is just fine for me when riding alone.
I just completed a round trip from Akron Ohio to Key West in 4 nights (2 nights in Key West).
My normal routine is to ride from dawn until dusk with no stops for food until the end of the day after checking into the hotel/motel.
If you pack smart, and are willing to wash clothes once in a while, the Vision's storage capacity is not a problem.

I have the 3 Vision branded bags and have found that if it fits in the bag, it will fit in the bike's luggage compartments.
What I start off wearing plus 3 pair of pants, one pair of tennis shoes, 4 shirts, socks and underware is plenty to leave home with.
I also had my TourMaster jacket, Frogg Toggs, extra gas, tire repair kit, forehead type flashlight, large selection of tools, sunscreen, 2 liters of water, GPS, Cell phone, ITouch, notebook computer, notebook, tire gauge, and maps.
Remember, nobody in the next State knows you wore that outfit 3 days ago and will wear it again 3 days farther down the road.
My half helmet stores easily in the one side bag, but my full faced helmet had to be on my head or strapped to the rear seat.
I did not need any extra luggage on this trip.

You have to consider that any styling change, particularly to the rear bags, could upset the handling dynamics of the motorcycle.
After-market side bags carry warning labels about your need to reduce speeds.

Bigfoot... the key here is one up. Two up and its a new ballgame with two sets of jackets and so on. Even so on a short trip of a few days the storage room is probably adequate for many. As far as helmets, I dont consider those. We wear full face but we wear them so a the end of the day they can go into the room.

I pack the same way I did 50 years ago.... put on 5 pairs of undies - at the end of each day - put the inner pair on the outside. After 5 days, turn them all inside out - and repeat the process. Everything else - just put it back on every day. After 10 days - find a laundromat. I don't understand why you think the Vision has a problem with storage! I just use that for stuff like computers, bungies, rain gear, booze ... important shit. Even the Co-Pilot is OK with the storage we have. She just shops for whatever she didn't bring, and throws out something she can't pack back up. No problem !!!!
We love our Vision just the way it is - and will keep it until I .... well, you know.

I'm in the same boat as adirondacks, no matter how big they make the bags on the Vision they will NEVER be big enough.

This is the "Saddlebag Corollary" to Parkinson's law, which simply states: "Stuff expands to fill all available space". Parkinson also came up with the aptly named Parkinson's Second Law. "Expenditures rise to meet income". This guy Parkinson was either a very smart fellow, or he knows my wife pretty well.

The wife's uncanny ability to fill every available cabinet, closet, nook and cranny in the attic and the garage with stuff translates to "Three Bags Full" on the Vision every time she rides with me. I could buy a trailer and we would still be leaving "crucial" items at home, even if we are just headed to the beach for breakfast.

For me, Victory could increase the size of the Vision's hips until it resembles an airstream and it wouldn't help one little bit; I think the limited space may actually be a blessing.

Between you and don-e you both got it right on. I feel the bag sizes are perfect and need not any change. Using the liner helps tremendously and are very handy as well. For the wife and I, I believe we max out the GWR and need to go with a trailer before we take out on an overnighter. Though I believe she could pack an overnighter I could put on the trunk rack that would rival golfer's cargo. The only problem would be is the headlight wouldn't adjust low enough. I'm glad she doesn't frequent this forum.

I find that with the optional carry bags designed for the saddlebags one can pack quite a bit if you use some creativity!! I knew the saddle bag size before I bought the bike as you all did and now you have the option to buy the Cross Country or Roads that has the biggest saddlebag capacity on the road!! I have traveled two up all through the States and Canada with no issues! We send all our souvenirs home through a Pack and Parcel outlet! Happy packing!!

My sources say there will be a "new model" unveiled at the dealer meeting but are very tight lipped about any specifics.

I remember having a conversation with a Vic engineer last summer in which they mentioned that the current vision bags could be redesigned on the INSIDE to give more room while keeping the outside the same. When the Vision was first developed, the interior room was larger but they had to be modified to keep structural strength and accommodate a larger hinge assembly (see my article What They Left on the Drawing Board).

I noticed on a 2011 Vision there were no shocks on the saddle bag doors. I like how mine slowly open.

I think the dark blue matel flake on the CC would be a good Vision color.

The first time I took the wife on a trip on the Kingpin tour she had the top case full, the left saddle bag full and was asking me where the rest of her stuff was supposed to go(day trip). It was at that point that I explained she had one side for her stuff and any room that I did not use in the othe side, but the top was for helmets and riding gear. Packing has not been a problem since, the VV side bags are bigger than they look. I think they were made smaller on purpose because the engineers knew that you don't have to bring as many tools with. I am surprised how much stuff we still take.
Color: I vote for boardwalk blue and pearl white
