Posts: 185 Nebraska | I have a hard time believing they have made over 7,000 Visions. I've been to the plant several times. And with all the models they make I just don't see how its possible. A normal work week is 5 days. Thats 260 days in a year. Thats 27 bikes per day for just the Vision. And I know they stop production for a few weeks every year. I could be wrong I guess. |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | maddog, i may have to go reference my service manual which has a good breakdown of the VIN. I don't know for sure, but other commentary has been that each bike is numbered consecutively independent of model.
Example. Vegas rolls off assembly line first, it gets 0001, then a vision 0002, kingpin 0003, vision 0004, hammer 0005 etc.
I am unsure why that would be an unattainable number, if I remember correctly a GM vehicle used to roll of the assembly line every 15 minutes or less. The Visions are a decently hot commodity at the moment. Overtime pays well, as well as MSRP. |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | When the ignition switch recall came out, all produced Visions to that date had to have the recall, and that number was approximately 1600. I've been told the last four numbers on the VIN number is the total number of Victory bikes produced for the year. Someone may have a better explaination. |

I'll buy that. I bet Visions number less than 2K. Victory sure aint GM. Tour the plant and you'll see what I mean. Its very clean and well organized. But 7,000 Visions would seem impossible to obtain. Unless they have some kind of shrinky Dink machine and have elves come in at night. |

The Victory Assembly line is able to put out about 10,000 bikes per year single shift. The orginal line had a max. capacity of 28 bikes per day per shift and the new line (the one running today) is at least 50% faster than the old line(I have not seen it with the Vision running). This should be the year that Victory sells over 10,000 units or $150 million in Unit sales. |

Posts: 7 Maple Park, IL | Not sure if this helps or not. I looked a the Vin. # of 5 different yr vic and noticed a 3 in the same location on all of them. The last 7 digits 1) 99- 3000018 2) 99- 3003079 3) 02- 3002027 4) 03- 3003649 and 5) 08- 3007885. If you think about it , the number would have to be per model year not the total number of unit made in a year. Or there would be a possibity of the same number coming up twice for the same model year. Either way it is a high number which states the Victory line is selling well and this should be the 6th straight year of increased sales. |

Herb
I don't know if anyone answered you, but no, Your s wasn't the 2423rd of the line. Visions are built on the same line as all of the other models and they don't start a new series of serial numbers every year. I was there when we built the first one on the line, but sorry to say I don't remember the serial number. (I'll dig it up later). There is no serial number 000001 Vision.

Victory VIN break down:
Example VIN: 5VP S D 3 6 D 0 8 2 004280
5VP - SAE assigned manfacturing id
S - Vision (A-8ball, B-NSS Jackpot, C-Kingpin, D-Ness Kingpin(05), E-Ness Vegas(05), G-Vegas, H-Hammer, N-Ness Vegas(04), X-Jackpot)
D - Type (B-Standard, C-Custom, D-Deluxe/Tour, S-Sport)
3 - Engine Size (1-1507cc, 2-1634cc, 3-1737cc)
6 - Engine HP (78-94)
D - Series (C-Canada, D-Domestic, L-California, U-United Kingdom)
0 - Check Digit
8 - Model Year
2 - Plant Code
004280 - Sequential number assigned
Victory will have only produced about 10000 units in total for all models so the last four digits should cover the numbers for this year.
All motorcycles are produced in a mixed manufacturing environment. Any model of bike maybe on the line at any time so the numbers for Visions will not be in order - I guess there could be exceptions.

This IS a puzzle alright. Since mine was built in May of 07 and has a VIN on 8503. Mine came way before everyone else's, yet it has a higher number than every one else's. It kind of goes against all logic. |

When I took delievery of my Vision, there was a single paper in the packet that held the manual which showed what I believe is the build date. You may still have it on the bike. I believe there were early Visions built because they were ordered special for certain dealers as a favor, or promotion. That may explain the very early S/N. I can only say this in knowing and seeing a Black Tour Premium with factory chrome forks we didn't get, it was at a dealer even before he had bikes to sell. |
