Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | I still want the leather seat but time's a wastin' and just can't get to that point, soooo... I went with seat beads and they seem great. Going on a good Carolina ride tomorrow and put them to the test. Anything's better than vinyl. This was cheap at Wal-Mart and took very little modifying to make it work.

I took them off for one ride, remembered why I bought them after 80 miles.

The only marks on the seat were causes by the velcro strap I had to hold it on. Don't use anything now and the only time it has come off was during an unexpected tipover. When I take it off for washing or winter it looks like it has marked up the seat, but the marks are temporary. |

Posts: 1229 Rancho Cucamonga, CA | My seat had little dimples where the beads pressed in, but went away after 100 miles of riding without it. I do have the 2010 Ness saddle though, I think it's a little beefier than stock. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | greatly balanced - getting that cool breeze and gentle massage. Also, I like the drape over the back as it keeps air circulating back there as well. I recommend using the whole bead matt for a car seat and remove enough from the small end to make it fit the seat as in the first post. |

Posts: 366 Albuquerque, NM | I found this black beaded seat cover at Pep Boys today for $17. It looks nicer than the bead rider and has a plastic mesh cover underneath to protect the seat. I don't plan on attaching it....just store in in the trunk when parked.

Posts: 258 Akron, Ohio | Well I read this thread and had to try them out. I went to WallyWorld and spent the 10 bucks for the beaded seat cover. Brought it home and cut the tang off that goes to the head rest for a car seat. Retied the last row of beads and tried it out today. I must say that I am impressed. I did not think I would like it at all. Instead the air circulation is awsome!! It truely is like AC for the butt. These are now a must have for trips for me. For now I will use the cheap version, then when the time comes, I will not hesitate to purchase the nice ones from Beadrider. Thanks to all for the advice and ideas on this site!! |

I told him I have nice turban and speak good time english but he still say no sir, no bead. I am dismissed. |

all I can is that beauty is in the eye of the butt-holder on this one. I wanted to find black ones or paint these black, but didn't. They are zipped tied on so there is no throwing them in the trunk. Then I figured the only ones who will say something about it is those who polish and don't ride on sunny weekends. I have learned that vanity has a price that cost more than comfort. I will enjoy my ride tomorrow on Rolling Thunder on my cool-A-- bike. |

Don't knock it till you try it. I would have loved to have had these on last years trip. 90*+ in stop and go traffic and sweat running down. The "boys" were really complaining by the end of the day. I really believe these will make a huge difference on long, hot trips. |

Posts: 88 Lavon, TX | Just returned from my rally - I can testify that these beads are HIGHLY recommended! 1400 miles in total - the return trip alone was 500 miles in 10 hours, with only three stops for fuel and food, in 90+ temps. No need for Monkey Butt powder, no sweaty thighs or heat rash, as the Cap'n said - dozens of tiny hands massaging as you ride... I was very impressed with the difference in comfort level at the end of my trip (cooler and drier). My purchase was the ceramic composite 15x15 UBR (front only) from www.beadrider.com, a tad expensive, but worth it to me. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | I've not felt that concern at all with the beads. It might, however, be giving me a slight hint of back pain, but I've not been on a very long trip to find out. The leather seat is still the preferred choice, but it'll be a while, the beads is an affordable solution to a most aggrevating problem, monkey butt.

Posts: 88 Lavon, TX | Yes, I do notice the increased slipperyness of the seating area not only when applying the brake but also when mounting and dismounting my steed...
I would not want to play the "Honey, I'm Home" bike game with the beads in place - as I would most likely slide off during my hurried mounting and exit.
However, I did enjoy having the beads during the 5 hour ride (w/only one stop for food/gas) down to the ROT Rally in near 100deg temps over the weekend. My pants and underwear were DRY at the end of the trip - in previous years, it looked like I'd pee'd myself upon arrival...
Also, I noted that I no longer need to raise my body up out of the seat into a standing position whenever possible (red light, stop sign, stop and go interstate traffic) during long rides. My butt arrives refreshed...
I still plan to eventually purchase the Russel Day Long Saddle, however. I like the its look, and am already taking some ribbing about the ugliness of the beads... |

As I said before, "Beauty is in the eyes of the butt holder..." the day I worry about what other people think about my ride is the day I stop riding.

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | It's the darkside of seat comfort. You can spend hundreds of dollars for the "standard" fixes for coolness and comfort for seats, or 12 bucks at Wal-Mart. So you might say, my butt is running the darkside.... |

Sorry I missed you at ROT. I only went on Friday during the day. I was on my Vision with my beads on the seat. Regardless of the beads and the lower wind deflectors....it was hot. Like South Texas hot riding home from ROT!

What happens at ROT stays at ROT.
All in all I had a great time. I bought a few things and got to spend some time riding and doing something other than work.
Naplam had some Victory's to see.
At 140 miles round trip this was my longest ride this year. I am ride deprived....but the heat is brutal this year. Looks like we are going to break the record of 64+ days over 100 degrees.
Lots of vendors and people to watch. One cute young lady was walking around with a very colorful blouse on....oh wait that is just paint from an airbrush. That was all during the day. I left before night fall.
I hear at night a completely different group of excitable creatures come out to play.
I did see some 12 inch Brown Chippewa Ostrich snip toe riding boots that will be mine soon..... Oh yes they will be mine......
