Oh, my, this thing keeps emptying my pockets just to keep it on the road.
My Vision is about the same in maintenance as my previous bike.
This bike is so maintenance free, it ought to be advertised as such.
I haven't anything to compare to, this is my first bike.

Just want to garner more discussion on the Vision compared to other machines. My disadvantage is that I've not owned many motorcycles, and this is my first NEW touring bike. I did ride an '84 GoldWing just prior to buying the Vision. One of the pluses, if not the only plus in getting the Gold Wing was that it would take minimal maintenance to maintain, however, the age was getting the best of it. I was concerned with the other makes that it seems like everyone I knew who road a bike, new or old, was constantly working on theirs or it was in the shop to have something done.

After 3 1/2 years this month, I find that the maintenance down-time very low, even with me doing my own maintenance. The cost of maintenance is minimal compared to what I hear on other bikes, or what I was putting out for my '84 Gold Wing, and that is not even a fair comparison.

So, Vision "I used to ride something else" Riders, what say you, does the Vision give you the same, more, or less down time for maintenance compared to your other bikes?

My first bike was a 2006 Yamaha V-star 1100. 27,000 miles and the only problem I had was the starter clutch. I have 41,000 miles on a Vision. Brake pads and oil changes so far. I won't count the belt problem since that was due to a defective Ness pully. The Vision is one of the easiest vehicles to change the oil and filter on that I have ever owned. The V-star you had to remove the front exhaust pipe to change the filter.

I have owned a number of other bikes (no Harleys) and have always taken low maintenance requirements into consideration when purchasing. The Vision is far and away the lowest maintenance bike I have owned. No chain to adjust (or shaft drive fluids to check). Self-adjusting valves, Fuel injection.

All fluids easy to check. Battery very convenient. Air filter as well. Brakes easy to check. Shock easy to adjust. Spark plugs not hidden deep in engine or behind access panels. Oil drain plug and filter allow for changing without burning your hands or getting oil all over the bike.

Of course there are a few things I would change: Fuse panel access and headlight replacement. Oil periodicity is a big one that has been corrected. But overall am very happy with the ease of maintenance and low requirements.

My Vision is my first touring bike I've had no maintenance complaints other than 2500 miles on Oil but I gotten over that. So far at 21K it really has been great. Fires right up and no idiots lights have gone on. I like the 2011 Silver Black paint job 5000 mile oil changes ABS and reverse but I will lose my shirt selling DC so I'm riding my Classic Vision until one of us won't start.

It's Victory thing. I've had two Vegas models and now a Vision. They don't require much. The Vision is good but the steel frame bikes are SUPER easy to take care of.

Not to mention it's American made, different and has lots of character. LOVE MY VICS!
