| let me start by saying that you can find several posts of mine a year or so ago in the "darkside" posts on this board, I was one of the many say "no way" "care tires on a bike is a bad idea"
since that time I have a ride to Alaska scheduled that will be 14k miles round trip. Tires along the way are few and far between and didn't want to deal with a mid ride tire change and schedule issues it could cause. After much debate and review I came to the realization that a CT would get me up there and back no problem, and since most of the ride will be interstate, gravel, dirt, mud with few twisties the car tire would handle these conditions favorably compared to the MT, specially the gravel and mud.
I just picked up the bike and took it out for 227 miles to see if I can deal with it, well I am very pleasantly surprised at how the bike handles. I did get on the interstate and cruising at 80 mph was great, no issues. Took it up to 110...felt very good, no better or worse than the MT. I then took the bike on some twisties (anyone from north GA I rode RT.60..AKA the Georgia Dragon) I must say I took it easy at first and rode the bike conservatively cause I wasn't sure what to expect. After about 10 miles of the 33 miles road I opened it up and felt VERY comfortable on the CT. Just like I would do with the MT I dragged boards where I always did, I can say this, I am pretty sure I was able to get on the throttle harder and pull out of the turns better than I could on the MT. Entering and thru the turns were really no different in terms performance and what the bike will and won't do. If this keep up I may never go back. I will gladly eat the crow from my older posts. | |

| Mid summer i will change to the dark side. Every thing I have read says you never go back the CT is that good. WOW | |
