Posts: 37 Coos Bay, Oregon | Vision Dash organizer: I wanted to show my efforts I have been working on for a dash organizer for the Victory Vision; I am on my 5th proto type which I feel is finely taking the shape I want and are ready to find someone to fabricate my version of a dash organizer. As you who ride the Vision know the dash area is not flat and it has taken several proto types to get the shape right to match the curves and radius of the dash. This organizer is made out of a heavy bag/Awning grade Cordura Nylon fabric and nylon zipper with two slides so it closes to the middle. I use two nylon web straps to secure it in place with two existing screws on each side of the dash so no drilling is needed. I have been using one for over a year now, I ride with two other vision riders and at X-mas I gave them both one of my proto types to use and give me feed back to make them better. We all agree these organizers are great; it provides a place to carry your reading glasses, camera, wallet, cell phone, map or trip information and a wipe down cloth. These organizers are time consuming to make due to the shape of the dash and we use a thick material between the outer cordura and the inner liner to make it rigid to hold the shape of the dash. The version in the photos is the one I use on my bike which I accessorized with a Victory decal that is sewed on, I learned that the silver parts of the decal reflect in the windshield pretty bad so on sunny days it can be bright. I hope to have someone contracted soon (2-3 weeks) to start producing these dash organizers and make them available for sale. I will update this post here on Vision Riders when I know what my final costs will be to have them produced. I would like some feed back on what kind of interrest there would be. Scott

Forgot to say that I don't care for the silver (white?) piping on the top front edge. Can you have it made without that or maybe with black?

Posts: 37 Coos Bay, Oregon | Thanks for the feed back. When I get these into production they will be offered in your choice of colors as long as you like black with out the piping or decal. I'll get a photo of my riding partners unit which is just black so people can see what the finished unit will look like. Most people think the dash organize came with the bike. Nozzeldog; Thanks for the compliment. Scott |

Stitch the lower flap so it stands up to keep stuff from shooting out when the zipper is opened, use Butadiene (like a mouse pad type material) as an insert on the bottom piece so things inside (like cameras or phones) don't get pounded to death on the journey- |

How thick is it?
Lose the piping and anything else reflective on it, even tho I love the Vic patch I think the reflection would bother me.
It sure is cool to see regular guys producing things for our bikes. We have a nice set of exhaust tips to choose and now hopefully a dash organizer.
Great work guys! |

Posts: 37 Coos Bay, Oregon | UPDATE.................I have met with a firm that will do contract sewing for the dash organizer, I am delivering materials to them this week to assembly four for my approval. They had some good ideas for improving the product and to help cut cost for fabrication, these things are labor intensive to make (aleast for a man with his wifes sewing machine, she was not happy at first). They will be all black and no accents. I will post new photo's and establish a cost when I get these proto types in hand. I've had a surprising responds from members here so I'm moving forward on this project. Scott |

Dark black with a hint of black. I'm really not too sure as I really like black, but black is also a good choice. But then since I own an 8 Ball, perhaps I'll just go with black. Yea, prolly black! Posts: 37 Coos Bay, Oregon | Update on the vision Dash Organizer…………..…….
I am over whelmed with the responds and interest from everyone here on Vision Riders. I am working with a firm to make the dash organizers but it started out to be a disaster, their first couple attempt did not hold the shape due to some changes they made for ease of production and they did not fully understand the curve and slope of the dash, it also lacked the quality I wanted. But I am pleased to report after 6 more attempts they are figuring out the custom shape it takes to fit the Vision dash and Friday they have one that is getting really close to being the quality I want. They have used a better foam liner in the construction of the top and bottom, it looks like it will protect items better when traveling over bumps and the foam liner will help insulate items stored inside. They still have a couple of minor changes to make to get my final approval and with their experience now they can work up a unit cost so I can figure out what the price will be. The final learning curve for me will be figuring out PayPal, visa orders and shipping. I know many of you have been wondering about my progress but as fate would have it the week I posted by original pics my business got slammed with work and I have been struggling to keep up with my everyday job as a contractor. I ask for everyone’s patients while we get the Vision dash organizer right, I think I am in the home stretch of having a product that matches the quality of my original and one I would put my name on. I am moving forward to get this product on the market. Thanks, Scott

| Hello Scott, this is Bill Knost. I just saw the post with the pictures from back in Nov.'11. Have you worked out the final design based on the feedback?
I'm interested in one but would like it just black without the patch and piping. Is that one you have decided to produce?
If you would let me know if you are in production and the cost I would appreciate it.
Thanks |

| I had one of those on my Goldwing, it is much smaller than what it looks like but it easily holds a glasses case and a garage door opener and even a microfiber rag, unfortunately I have my GoPro Hero HD camera mounted at that point on my dash. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I'd like to see the finished product. I had mine custom built shortly after gettng the bike four years ago and it is still in use today. It is the best thing I ever put on the bike. Mine cost $400 using leather and durable insides with compartment. I had a plan to make more but not many seemed to have an interest and then I didn't have the time. My only stipulation is it has to be leather and have support that retains the shape whether full or empty, with compartments. The one I'm using could use some minor mods, so if they want any input let me know. |

| I am having 10 Bags made up and will have them ready for shipping on mar 15th, These bags are black marine synthetic leather which is as strong as leather and unlike leather it is mildew retardent and has a higher water resistant factor but looks and feels just like leather. They are very spacious as you can see in the photos, I put 2 pairs of sunglasses, a galaxy tablet, a gps, a Driod x2 phone, a small wallet, and a bottle of Bugs B Gone. The bags have heavy duty zippers and are slotted so they do not get in the way of the raising and lowering of the windshield. The Cost of the bags are $ 80.00 plus 14.99 priority shipping. I can have leather ones made in the near future but will be approx $40.00 more. They attach to the dash with industrial velcro so you can take them off when you need to. The bags com without patches but I can have a MIA/POW, Navy, Army, Marine, Air Force, Marine , or Victory Patch for 10.00 more. You Can contact me by email at
apollogold1@me.com. Once you are on the list you can pay with check, Money order, or thru paypal but please contact me prior to sending Money.
Thanks

Posts: 639 Tri Cities, WA | I got an I/M from bob5219 regarding his bag. I thought it was Scott who finally made them and was ready to ship out. Both are nice but I like the size of and logo placement more on Scott's Dash bag. I guess that just comes down to personal preference for everyone. I think the $80 plus $14.99 for shipping is tad high for this item by bob5219. That's just my personal opinion but doesn't mean I wouldn't buy if that was my only choice either.. |

Having some background in IP Protection, I am not sure how much I would invest in patent process.
Reasons are that product and others similar to it are already in the public domain; and imho the best you can hope to accomplish is a design patent, which provides based on the type of the product you have, very limited protection, if even successful in getting it through. Just saying...
BTW, do you have a price for shipping to Canada? Thanks |

I tend to agree about the size. It looks a little shorter in length and higher than the bag Scott had originally shown.
Does anybody know if Scott is getting anywhere with his bag? I think I like the idea of the bag covering the length of the dash. |

| The basic design has been arround for years in the snow mobile community and I have had a prototype for this bag for 2 years now. I just made it to fit properly on the V Vision. I made them shorter so you can grip them and take them off at a bike meet and throw it in your saddlebag. I also felt sorry for the guys waiting, what has it been almost a year now. I am working on a website that will have other products for the Visions and CC.

Actually, no problem with him using Victory Patches as long as he is purchasing patches from authorized distributor and then sewing them on. It is no different than buying a patch from a Victory Dealer and sewing it onto your vest. |

Instead of velcro, is there anyway of securing it using the two screws that are visible on the dash? More like what Scott had originally designed.
Scott,
Being the first to respond to your thread, I would like to know , What's the plan? Are we going to see your bag in production as well? Competition is always great for the consumer. |

| I am selling the bags and then selling the patch which I bought from Victory and doing a sewing sevice. Both are marked separately on the invoice. As for the Mounting the industrial Velcro has stood the test of time on this one and on the prototypes, It is kind of nice to be able to quickly take it off if you are going into a coffee shop and lock it in your trunk or side bag.

| I will get more photos out today. I also have an additional 10 in production to follow up on the first 10 and will keep this pipeline going as long as there is interest. I also have more Grab handle covers ready this week, they are made of Synthetic Croc or flat Black both made od the Marine Synthetic Leather and Croc with great Sun protection so they won't fade. |

I think I am going to put some small metal strips under the dash, their is a cavity you can across through the panels under the windshield, the plan is to use jb weld to secure the strips of metal, then stick some magnets into the bag. |

I will probably do as Jb.hatch said and add magnets and strips of steel. |

Posts: 249 Phenix City AL. | Just FYI, while installing toys on the vision, I found out that the top of the dash comes off, making it easyer to install some metal strips, just dont get the metal too thick, I might just get some washers, the size of a quarter and jb weld them in rows, that should be good for mounting the dash bags and other stuff using magnets. |

Posts: 880 Orlando, FL | jb, I was originally thinking of using some metal flashing from Home Depot and cutting it to cover the entire inside of the dash. But thinking about your "washer" idea, I realize that it might be better to place those washers where you want the bag to end up at, so merely throwing the bag on the dash causes the magnets in the bag to find the washers in the dash and line up right where you want it! Haven't received my bag yet, but I think I'm going to try that idea. Thoughts? |

Just ordered these from Amazon. Six pounds of pull force might be too much! Still waiting for the bag to be delivered. Post those pics!

| This is an update on Dragon Bobs Dash Bags. The first 10 Bags are boxed up and will go out to customers on Monday morning. They would have gone out today but in Boise all of the Post Offices are closed on Sat. I guess its that saving us money plan. I will send out another 10 on friday and continue each friday as long as the demand is there. I have a web site that I have been working on that went live today and shows some of the other items that I have for sale and more will be added as they are developed. the site is dragon-bobdesigns.com
Thanks

| i purchased the dash bag from Dragon Bob.. broke it in this week - first few days -500 miles... it is the most functional accessory i have on the bike.. i now have an easily accessible place to store my iphone, wallet, keys, sun screen, phone charger, emergency 3 pack of condoms, cigars, matches, sunglasses and EZ pass... it all fits in there without squeezing it in... bag zipper functions well.. bag doesn't obstruct view at all or impede movement of windscreen... basically - it works exactly as intended... good job Dragon Bob.... well done |

Posts: 1229 Rancho Cucamonga, CA | A little warning though. Had my sunscreen in the bag, parked in a parking lot in the sun on a 95 degree day. I think it was boiling by the time I came back to the bike, couldn't even touch it, let alone apply any.
The windshield and black leatherish material must work together like an oven. Be careful of any sensitive electronics you may put up there. Most definitely throw the bag in a side compartment when you leave the bike in the sun. |
