Posts: 732 Western WA | So, you wanna play a game?
I can't take credit for creating this game. It is one that I played on a different bike forum years ago. But it was fun, got people involved, and supplied more than a few laughs over the years.
On second thought scratch that paragraph above.
I created a new game. It's genius. You're welcome.
THE PREMISE:
It's called "You, your bike, and . . . ". Or, if you prefer, "The Great Vision Photo Scavenger Hunt."
A photographic target will be set. (examples to follow) The members of the forum will have two weeks to 'hit' the target, and provide photographic evidence. You know, pics or it didn't happen.
What kind of targets? Well, let your little imaginations run wild. As an example, if I set the target to "A picture of you, your bike, and an active volcano", I would post a pic like this and claim all the fame and glory for myself.
That's not a mistake. I really am a stick figure.
But that wouldn't really be a fair target, would it? I don't think most of the people on the board live next to volcanoes. I could be wrong. It's happened before.
Other target examples:
You, your bike, and a waitress in uniform standing under a digital temp sign reading anything above 90 degrees. (Not a good one in winter ' we northern people are at a disadvantage)
You, your bike, and an old barn that looks ready to collapse.
You, your bike, and a pro, or semi-pro, team mascot.
You get the idea.
THE RULES:
1. The target must be available to everyone.
a. You can't post a target that is impossible for the greater community to hit. Putting "You, your bike, and the Statue of Liberty in the background" is a no-no. "You, your bike, and a building of national historical significance" is fine. Use common sense.
2. The target will stand for two weeks from the date of posting. If the target is not hit in that time, the person that chose the target will modify the target to make it easier. Members will then have one week to hit the new target. If the target is not hit in that time, then a new target will be picked by the winner of the previous round, and the two week deadline will be reset. And the members will humiliate the person mercilessly. (This isn't so much a rule, but damn fun anyway.)
a. Don't get ridiculous with your targets. '"You, your bike, and Hillary Swank" is not a good choice. "You, your bike, and a celebrity" is fine. Once again, use common sense. Come to think of it, Hillary Swank on my bike is an EXCELLENT choice! Just not in the context of the game.
3. The creator of the target will be the judge of the round, deciding when the target has been 'hit'. This is not a problem. Once the game gets going, and someone decides to be a hard-ass it has been my experience that the players will call them out and humiliate them publically.
4. The creator of the current target cannot hit their own target.
5. Use a tripod, a person walking by, or your co-pilot, but you MUST be in the pic.
6. There is no prize other than bragging rights.
7. Don't be a jerk.
8. I am appointing myself arbiter of all disputes. Send me a PM and I shall rule justly. Probably. Unless I'm bribed.
Just remember, to keep this fun the targets should be difficult but not impossible.
So, there you have it. Play if you want or don't. This game might wither and die, or take over the board. That's the risk of the internet.
I will now post the first target:
You, your bike, and a bridge at sunset.
Go!

Close but no cigar.
Two days to hit the target, then I'll change it. I thought this would be an easy one. |

Posts: 732 Western WA | Well, two weeks have passed since I posted the target, but I'm extending this one through the weekend.
To sweeten the pot, I have small 'prize' for the person that gets this pic first. Very small. So don't go getting all flustered over the promise of a major award.
Then if the target hasn't been hit by Monday morning, 05/16/11 I'll change it to something else. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | brakes - breaker. I'm waiting on a bolt from Fastenal - 10X1.25 for the left front caliper. Need to put anti-seize on those bolts, frozen in there and would not come out without drilling. |
