I was just quoted for insurance for my 2011 vision and it was way higher than my previous 2 touring bikes. I asked the agent why and he said that visions get into accidents a lot. I found this to be a dubious answer.
He also claimed that possibly people were upgrading to the bigger bikes and weren't able to handle them.
What do you guys think about this?
Also, who has good rates out there? When I have checked most of them are pretty close in price.

I began with Progressive Insurance on my Victory's, but became disgusted with the political views and actions of the owner of Progressive. Since then I brought the bikes under my Auto-Owners policy and am happy with the service. They continue to rank either number one or two in Consumers Report for insurance in Florida. Your cost will be determined by several factors but if you can bundle the bike with your car you may save some money. As for getting into more accidents I haven't found any stats to support that statement. Large displacement motorcycles will cost more to insure than a small size bike. Just the price to pay for riding a great bike in my book. Ride safe, but keep riding.

I get mine through the AARP from Formost. They are great and have a very good rate.

state farm almost cut my insurance rates (same coverage) in half! or at least 45%.. when i first started to insure the vision back in 2008, i about had a heart attack at the qoutes i was getting! but each year it went down alot. and last year when i went with state farm i was finally happy with my insurance rate!

I'm also insured through AARP and FOREMOST, rate is good, coverage is good, but then the last time I got a ticket was about the time when Regan was asking 'Grits' when he was going to get his stuff out of the White House.
For some unknown and not understood reasons, insurers want to check your credit, debt, and several other things that have no reason for being in the equation other than it's one more reason for them to balk (Oh, you owe XXX, then you must be a crappy driver). I owe less than $100.00 on my one credit card, own the bike and the JEEP outright, and owe nothing but the 'monthlies'. So I go out and charge a pair of socks or a 3 pack of tee shirts just to keep my credit 'active' and I still get flak from creditors. GEICO wanted nearly $1000.00 a year and ALLSTATE wanted even more, so I deal with the independent agent who covers my classic 63 T Bird up to $300K in liabilities and 100% replacement value for about $ 88.00 a year (no mileage limits either), also with FOREMOST.
Like my dad told me several times, 'four things you never mess with are, Insurance Companies, Organized Labor, The Mafia. or Organized Baseball'.
Check your local agent who carries FOREMOST.

I have Allstate and pay less than $200 a year. Not bad considering Progressive was over $400. I dropped progressive when the increased my rates after 2 years.

Although, I admittedly ride 'er like she's a sports bike at times! Man I love this thing, especially with the engine mods.

My Vision insurance is with Progressive. Admittedly, I haven't shopped around much. But Progressive was excellent to work with when I was tagged back in 2007.
Vision Annual premium is $363 which includes coverage for $5k in aftermarket goods. This was only $50 more than I was paying on my previous 'zuki blvd, so it seemed reasonable to me.

In my experience it is cheaper getting quotes online. Some of the top insurance companies offer discounts when ordering online, because it is less work for them. But to be safe you could compare rates online, pick the best offer and try a local agency to see if they can match it or do better.

I recommend this site for online comparing: http://www.quotes-center.com

l cant believe the great rates you guys south of the border get-I am paying 1012 this year for liability, collision, comp and I have a clean record.-300 to 400 dollar rates sound great unless its only for partial coverage.

Remember that the area you live in has a big affect on the premium price.

When I lived in the small town or Rockport, Texas my insurance was very very low. I moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1993 and it went up 25%. In 1998 I moved to San Antonio, Texas and it jumped another 20%.

Same car....same driver......different location.

Ride Safe...not like my brother.

I have progressive and they did an outstanding job with my claim when I dropped the bike last fall. They stayed up on the repairs, called me several times and in the end, called me to make sure I was both happy with the repair job AND their service. I have the Vision and our Rune insured by them and we pay 800.00 ish a year. I am curious however with the comment made about " i didnt like Progressive because of its owners
views on certain things". I am curious as to what he is referring to. I have become sensitive to large companies who give political monies to
political parties and any group that is biased against certain people or groups of people. Just like Chic Fil A wont buy from them anymore
and I sure as heck dont give Exxon any of my money.

after a while nobody will be buying anything from anybody because if you really knew all their views and who and what they supported that would be the case. Don't kid yourself. But as with anything, you do what you think is right...

Progressive jumped $300 from the Kingpin to the Vision, about 650 - 985. Geico brought it back into the upper 600 range.

I've been insured by Markel, they were the only ones that would give me the bang for the buck.

http://markelinsuresfun.com/motorcycle-insurance

They give discounts for longevity, accident free, safety riders course and others.

Geico and State farm which were my main insurers at the time could not beat them.

Whoah....you must be in a "raping state" for insurance.

Im 31.....and I have the driving record of a 18 year old with ADD.....its a mile long.

I have a 300/100/100 or a 1 million dollar umbrella (not sure which as I carry one limit on cars and one on bikes.....its early and Ive been up all night). $250 deductible

I pay $220 a year.

I also have Markel and my cost is $553. All my other insurance, Home, tournament ski boat, 4 cars are through Farmers. My agent is a very close friend and the best she could do was $606 and she undervalued the bike to come up that cost. If the she was not such a good long time friend I would move all my insurance. If I have any issues she jumps on it right away for me so I dont mnd paying the extra. Otherwise Farmers sucks for cost.

As IndyVision.... I just switched to Allstate and they saved me $200 ($400 this yr for full coverage and with uninsured) with more coverage than I had.... Each year I go thru all of the insurance companies to see has the best deal... I had them all the last 25yrs... I've had State Farm for all the autos for the last 25yrs and my agent told me to look around for cheater rates than what they could offer... I've been lucky with no accidents or tickets...
