I have a 2001 V92C which still has the original battery and I plan on getting a new one soon. THis afternoon I went out for lunch and turned the key to the run position and the lights lit up and the fuel pump kicked on. I hit the start button and everything went dead, when I let go of the starter button the lights re-lit and the pump came back on. This happened a couple of times and then I turned the key off and back on and she started right up. I'm not a motorcycle mechanic by any means but can handle most shade tree type of stuff. Any suggestions on what to look at or replace? I do not think this was battery related since it ended up starting. I have loved this bike because she always started when I wanted to ride which is why I bought Victory in the first place. More riding time and less wrenching time. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Starter switch or more likely the relay isn't passing current through it. In other words, the connections inside are bad / dirty / corroded. Have you ever used a multi-meter?

i am at work and do not have any tools here. Went out for a ride at lunch and had the problem. I was going to get the vision ready tomorrow anyway so maybe the old bike is just pissed about it. I plan on getting a new battery and checking all the cable connections.

And check your ground cable where it bolts to the frame. The problem sounds like an intermittent connection somewhere.
