'A bank has forclosed on Wichita-based Big Dog Motorcycles, ending the run of a 17 year old firm that specialized in custom heavy crisers and had 100 U.S. dealers.
The Wichita Eagle said founder Sheldon Colemean Jr. heir and former CEO of camping and outdoor equipment maker COLEMAN Co. disolved the corporation. Big Dog Motorcycles boomed when the housing market was strong and many of it's customers were builders.
At the height of popularity in 2005, the company built more than 5000 bikes, had more than 300 employees, and more than $100 Milliojn in revenues. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | I liked Big Dog soley because they are an underdog, American made. I preferred the classic, but the newer canine's and such seemed to be a good ride, just above my pocketbook. If I could have afforded a Big Dog I would have gotten and Indian instead. Sorry to see them fold. |

Sad to see... i liked there line of bikes but a tad out of my price range for a second bike. I kinda hope they go down in price and maybe some day i can score one for a good price. Good bar bike. |
