Just can't get rid of the popping and it's driving me crazy. The exhaust is tight and I'm running a stock air filter. Any cheap suggestions are welcome, thanks.

I'm not familiar with Thrust mufflers... but the comment "The exhaust is tight and I'm running a stock air filter." caught my eye. If you change the exhaust, then unless it's exactly the same flow as stock, something else needs to change too... usually the intake side, but there are too many variables to troubleshoot online. I'd give Lloydz (lloydz.com) a call.

Interestingly, neither my 2011 VV or my friend's CC pop at all. I had a 2010 before with the pop that I couldn't get rid of. I asked Lloyd what he thought they might have done to get rid of it and all he could comment on is that they have increased the map resolution significantly which allows them to tune it finer. One thing that I have noticed is that when the bike is fully up to temperature and you're slowing down in 2nd gear at about 2000 rpm as an example and then start to open the throttle again, like when you're going around a corner, the motor will hesitate and then lurch forward. It only does this when its good and hot. If the bike sits for 20 minutes or so and you ride off it won't act up again till the temp comes up. The 2010 didn't have this glitch so its almost like they tuned the pop out and tuned a hesitation in. You just can't win. I played around with the PCV but it has no effect on this problem at all. I think its related to the fuel cutoff switch built into the OE software. Now I'm just trying to figure out a way to "ride" around the problem.

Many stock Visions have an occasional exhaust pop on decell, especially when cold. When stock, this exhaust popping is hard to hear, but when running an open pipe it becomes very apparent. Many think the popping is caused by the open pipe because of this.

Having said this, I have had other bikes (non-Vics) exhaust pop due to an exhaust clamp or gasket leak.

What about this? http://www.lloydz.com/store/item_view.asp?estore_itemid=1000078

Mine pops too, but I have a small leak at the crossover I have yet to seal up. Anyway it popped before I put on the Thrushes, just not as loudly.

I have read that KevinX has told people to disconnect your 02 sensors that will richen up your bike and take some if not all your popping away.
I think victory has a shity ecm and the bike run lean when you alter your exhaust. I think they changed the ecm in 2011

First thing I need to do is learn how to spell Thrush! My exhaust being tight means there are no leaks and I did this mod based on others saying there was very little to no popping. Well I have more than very little so I think I'm going back to stock to save what little hearing I have left. I must say the Thrush sound is as good as any I've heard on any kind of bike. Thanks for the reply's everyone.

The Thrush is a 2" straight through opening. Any pipes you try equal to or more than that will pop the same unless you remap. S1L1 are 1-1/2" straight thru, may or may not still pop without a remap. Cycledragon says their's will work without a remap, and sound very good, but I cannot comment on whether it pops or not. The Lloydz IAV may fix the popping without a remap. Best to ask him directly.

LLOYDZ wrote a wonderful article on backfiring wich is a MUST READ for anyone changing from stock.

What setup do you have now?

I have Thrush mufflers and the upgraded intake filter. I still get mild popping, only when I shift agressively. My bike may have had a remap prior to buying it. The dealer put S1L1s on it before the sale. I thought about putting in an adjustable lollipop baffle, but in never pops enough to make it worth the work.

Made the exchange back to stock Sunday so now I'm quiet again. I'm going to miss that special sound but now I can hear the tunes a lot better and my almost lost of hearing is thanking me. Downside is all the bike noise is back. Update on a lost upper wind deflector that flew off a couple of weeks ago is the mother ship is sending me a new one under warranty. Any special instructions on the install as the closest dealer is 100 miles away.

My "stock" 10th Anny has never popped nor did my '03 CC with straight pipes, K&N filter with front vented custom air intake cover and only the S1 download. I get very little on my '99 and she has straight pipes, K&N filter with no airbox, Lloyd installed and setup Techlusion and idle is set at 750. I always burn high test gas and use Amsoil. No idea what makes the difference but...
This won't help but it throws a lot of variables in there.
