Yuasa I think is way better VTX20HL and its the same battery that harley uses in there softail models. On your EBC brake pads you didn't say what model they are. I'm not trying to be a complainer I'm just saying quality parts are better. The PC545 is rated at almost twice the CCA amps of the Yausa that you cited. I have never had any trouble with the Odyssey PC545 in either my E-glide or my BMW R75 but I have lost a number of traditional batteries over the years to dead cells and broken posts. I have also seen a number of otherwise wonderfully preserved classic motorcycles ruined by acid that leaked down drip tubes and ate away parts of the frame or other components. These batteries are basically vibration proof which makes them a pretty good bet for an HD. There is a tech article on the PC545 on the Odyssey website that may (or may not) answer your complaint. http://www.odysseybatteries.com/files/pc545.pdf I habitually put my machines on the trickle charger when they are in the garage; a fact which may explain my satisfaction, since the SWB R75 BMW had what was arguably the weakest charging system in existence for a bike with an electric start when it was introduced. A couple of years ago, I sent an inquiry email to OPTIMA who are based in Bothell, WA asking why they didn't manufacture OPTIMAS for motorcycles. I got back, after several weeks wait a very breezy, say nothing, 'thanks for thinking about us' return message. I wonder if they are missing a pretty big market by ignoring motorcyclists. Talk about a market that would welcome the anti vibration properties of a gel battery 'oh, there's a forest? I couldn't see it for all the trees'. I've got one in my JEEP and one in my 1963 Thunderbird so the bike would be a natural. They were bought out several years ago and are now a shell of what they used to be. Quality is down. I switched to Odyssey or Diehard Platinum which is made by odyssey for my vehicles. Will go with Odyssey when the time comes for the bike.
