This happens once in a great while, wanted to see if it is just me. Filled up today, and had a bad gas smell for the whole 2 hours. When arriving home, noticed fuel stains over the entire engine, mostly on the right side. I did overfill by accident today and am hoping that was the problem. I have the new cap so know that is not the issue.

I did that a couple of weeks ago.  Just a pain to clean up.  No big deal.

there is a little hole outside the gas filler hole in case you overfill, it should have a hose that takes it down below the engine and let it drain on your boot instead. If it is hitting the engine, either you are sloshing or the hose is not connected. Don't take my word for it though...

when I first got the Vison, I had gas flowing down the side when I took off hard.  Turns out that the cap the bike came with was defective.  Mike at AZ victory Replaced it with a new type of cap and the problem went away.

I had the same problem on my 08 Vision. The replacement cap worked for a while then it started again. It seems some of the 08 gas tank filler necks werre stamped too thin. Twisting the cap started to cause the neck to get mis-shaped. I had Victory put on a new gas tank and after 43,000 miles have had NO problems. I did recently have the gas cap lid malfunction and had to have it towsed. It seems it wasn't the lid that was bad it was the plastic piece the latch hooks into. Also a warranty item on my supplemental warranty so it only cost me $50.

Cap'n has it right I think. I've been down the same road and even had a tank replaced back in 2008.

All was fine until last summer when it happened a couple of times. Turns out that the gas would slosh out (yeah I overfilled - shoot me), but then instead of running out the little hole and down to the ground from the drain tube on the frame, it would seep around the filler neck.

Try running a small bead of silicone around the filler neck. It solved the problem for me.

I had a bent lip on my gas tank filler hole. I did not look how I was putting in the gas pump nozzle and bent the lip on the tank. Now gas would leak out and smell bad. A little bending back on the lip and all is well.
