Any special areas you found that provide handy access, and yet out of sight and out of the weather?
Mods you've done to keep them hidden but accessible?

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | Just remember you asked :-). I am assuming you mean for self defense? As far as I am concerned the only place to "carry" a defense firearm is on your person, locked and loaded, not on or in the bike. This is not legal if the firearm is concealed here in WI. Two thought's come to mind here: It's better to have the loaded firearm and not need it than to need it and not have it. As far as carrying a loaded firearm concealed - better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. If I felt a threat that big that I need to resort to pulling out a firearm, the first thing I would do is roll the throttle on hard and find an escape route to get away from the threat. As Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch fame teaches, drive or shoot, not both. Ball bearings around .375" diameter can be a real persuader if a few are dropped on the road in front of the threat. I have watched those movies where the big bike chase is on and the riders are shooting in every possible position, this is only in the movies unless your a product of SOCOM and were specifically trained for some incident that involved shooting from a motorcycle.
Ride hard, ride fast, but above all - ride safe and free........ |

I was thinking there must be a safe, easy, concealed place to store it while riding, where you could quickly access if needed (not with bike in motion).

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | On a side note I always have a toothpick in my mouth when riding (and 99% of the off time). I figure if I go down it will end up impaling me in some way, shape or form. It's simple: I don't plan on taking a toothpick to a knife or gun fight. If your going to carry, you take a chance on having the firearm doing damage. We take a far greater chance by just riding a bike. Your cell phone and anything you carry is going to jack you up if you go down (the ball bearings). My thought's are still to get the hell away from the threat. You have no idea how it feels to shoot and injure a perp. Not that this has happened to me but I did "clear" my apartment years ago and almost shot someone because they entered my apartment without permission. So as I always say:
Ride hard, ride fast, but above all - ride safe and free...... |

| Always have one. Ankle, shoulder holster or hip. ALWAYS have it. Don't think I'll ever use it while on a motorcycle trip, but I couldn't live with myself if I needed it and didn't have it. |

Posts: 21 London, KY | I ALWAYS have mine in a fannypack on me at ALL times. There are many CC fannypacks out there depending on what your carry piece....wheel gun or automatic...your choice. I also keep my cell, checkbook. wallet...etc in the same fannypack...that way I always know where they are. As most have recommended....make sure you have your permit with you and know the CCDW laws of any stae you may ride thru. |

If securely inside a holster (that covers the trigger)....and its properly maintained......the gun will not go off in the event of an accident.
Its highly likely it MAY injure you if you go down. Perhaps you end up landing on it and doing soft tissue damage. In that regard its like anything else that you strap to your person.....its not going to give much....your body will likely do the giving. For that reason I will not carry small of back....dont want to risk the injury. I carry strong side....belt slide....outside the waist band.
Me and a friend carry 100% of the time we are allowed to by law (had to toss that disclaimer in there). I carry riding dirt bikes, ATVs, motorcycles.....etc. Ive been wadded up under a dirt bike or ATV more than a few times.....and even went down on a street bike - all armed. Never had a problem.
Firearms carried ranged from a cocked and locked Kimber 1911......several Glock......Smith and Wesson M&P.......Ruger SR9C......Browning HiPower.......and a Sig Sauer P238.

Posts: 367 Cottage Grove, Mn | I carry OWB, round in the chamber in a Black Widow holster. If I need it I want it now I don?t want to have to dig for it. I carry at all times where legal and in compliance with that states laws. When I can?t carry I store it in the trunk it the area designated for the CD player in accordance with that states law. Some states do not allow you to simply store the gun in the trunk but have rather strict laws on how it is stored. Also remember the law for transporting a gun on an interstate freeway may vary greatly with the law for transporting on a state road.
I also visit every state web site for states I plan on traveling in and print out their gun laws and carry them with me. I discovered the hard way that not all LEO?s know the gun laws in there own state.
Here is a link to great source for information is they also have links to all state web sites.

While I don't know much about guns or the law, I will say this, the law doesn't "allow" you to carry a weapon, it protects that right.
You are born with the right to carry.
Am I mistaken? |

Posts: 192 Republic of Tejas | CHL??? What's that???? If I were the kind of person who had one of those I would porbably carry an M&P 9mm in a Galco Miami shoulder rig with two extra capacity mags plus an LCP in a front jeans pocket in a De Santis Nemesis pocket holster. But thats IF I were the kind of person who had a CHL.

Posts: 199 Salt Lake City | Very good thoughts here. Just a word of advice: this is a place where where your personal info, such as what/where you carry is available to everyone, for any purpose. I am worried less about the bad guy reading this(since there are only good guys here!) than I am about Big Brother, or, a lawyer. Just sayin'.....
But I have heard that a Kahr P40 carries very nicely in a rear pocket(wallet) holster, and tends to stay protected. They also say that it feels similar to a large wallet. I might have to check into it..... |

I know there are plenty that would disagree, but I love a mystery. Does he or doesn't he, anyone want to find out????? |

Posts: 395 Moravia, IA | Most of the time I ride my motorcycle I open carry anyways.....so everyone knows what Im carrying. I find it really difficult to get to a firearm concealed with a heavy motorcycle jacket on......so when I do want to concealed carry I usually toss a small gun in the pocket. |
