| Hello all,
I am planning to do a speaker and amp install on my Vision, but I am currently traveling for work. Can someone please give me the dimensions of the hole in the truck, and the depth of the hole? I want to figure out how much room I have for an amp install.
Speaking of, does anyone have an amp recommendation? I am eyeballing the Sony XM-4S, It seems to produce ok power for a compact size. I would not mind going a little higher end, just need to find something that will fit.
I am basically looking for crisper cleaner sound at higher volume levels. It seems the vision speakers start to sound like crap at the higher volume levels. That and I ride with ear plugs on long trips and still like to listen to tunes.
Thanks! |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | The hole is 10" x 3-1/2" x about 8" deep.
You might also consider the Alpine KTP-445 amp. It's pretty small (about 8" x 2" x 1.75") and puts out 45w rms into 4 channels. It's made to plug & play with alpine car stereos but many installers are using it for other radios. It accepts high-level input (speaker level). Costs about $120.
Definitely consider a speaker upgrade. There are several threads on the site dealing with speakers.

Posts: 70 Fryeburg ME | Sounds like a great option for our bikes but are we able to use the plug and play connections of the Alpine KTP-445 amp or do we have to cut and hard wire? Jeff I think it is even smaller than your estimate maybe 6" X 2" 1.25" |

My truck bed is about 30" deep and it's a short box so, about 6.5 feet long?
Yeah, I'm a smart ass...

You'd have to cut off the alpine connector to use it with the Vision which incidentally would void any Alpine warranty. That said, I've heard very good things about this amp. |

| I am digging the Alpine Amp and think that will be the way I will go. I like how its more or less all enclosed and compact. I think these and the Kicker PS5250s will rock my vision. |

Below is a couple of youtube video's of the potential of this amp. very impressive! As you know I have it installed with infinity 5032cf speakers and the sound quality is amazing! IT DOES NOT FIT TO HEAD UNIT! You need hard wire but very simple to do at any stereo shop. Also on the back of the amp is a Low/High gain I have mine set a high for better deepper base but need to be carefull not to blow speakers? lol I played it in my garage and Damn those things Kick Ass!! I had it on volume 17 and my wife upstairs said she could hear it just as good!!! See for yourself how it moves the Harley's 6x9's, our draw back is the size for our stock bike which are 5-1/4 but still I could do a little block party!!!

| I figured as much, I dont currently have any intentions to install the CB or intercom kit, but if I ever do, I will move the amp. |

| Well I pulled the trigger.
I have four Kicker PS-5250s on the way and an Apline KTP-445 power pack amp should follow shortly after.
My intent is to install the the amp in the truck stem, there is just enough room.
I am traveling for work but will make sure to include photos when I do the install. |
