Posts: 1229 Rancho Cucamonga, CA | I'm starting to leave my highbeams on during the day. I've got clearwater driving lights set at about 50% with my lowbeams that go to full with my highbeams. I like having them on full during the day so I'm more visible and this way I don't have to fiddle with the dimmer for nighttime. Maybe the lowbeam filliment will last longer too. |

Posts: 244 Fargo, ND | I leave my high beams on during the day, but I actually had a cage I was riding behind pull over at a stoplight to tell me I was blinding him in his rearview mirror. I said "That's what I like to hear. Have a good day!" |

I turn the Clearwaters down to half power at dusk. The only time the HID or the Clearwaters are off is when the bike is parked. |

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I had to aim my lowbeams down when I got my first Vision. I was getting flashed (not in the good way) alot by other drivers at night, than a guy in front of me got so mad he slammed on his brakes. Caught me a bit off guard, but no contact. Been out one night on my replacement 2008 Vision and was flashed a couple of times. I guess it's time to turn this one down too. |

Posts: 523 seattle, wa | I will run highbeams as long as I am not behind anybody, or blinding the on coming traffic. Even during the day highbeams are bright. I will leave them on while on the freeway, but not on a 2 lane hiway. I can't stand when a cruiser rider comes up behind me and rides my ass with his "driving lights" on.
This can filed in the same category as "loud pipes saves lives".
Of course there is always certain situations that will be different, but as a rule, I have my lowbeams on.
Expect the unexpected. |

| My reason is simple, it was a tip that I learned at an MSF experienced riders course (when they actually had a classroom session) and the reason is obvious, if your high beam(s) burn out while out riding all day you will still have your low beams to ride home with at night without risking getting pulled over for using your high beams with oncoming traffic (at least here in IL they will pull you over for that). |

I subscribe to this theory as well. The Vision High beams are retardedly BRIGHT.....and dangerously distracting.
There is being seen (which the low bean and HID do VERY well), and then there is being disrespectful. Sometimes people talk about car drivers like they are Satan himself, yet all of us drive cars as well. If someone runs up on me with their high-beam on I am gonna get pissed.....So you may just want to keep your head on a swivel.
My safety of not being blinded is just as important as your right to be seen. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | I use my high beams instead of my horn (much more punishing). During the day I run low beams/HID and Clearwaters at 50%. When I go to the high beams the Clearwaters go full blast also. I rode behind VisionTex with the Clearwaters at 50% and he thought they were cranked all the way up already. I roll them down to about 30% at night. |

| Why would any rider want to piss off other people on the road? If they don't "see" you it won't matter how much light or loud pipes you have. I find being polite to others on the road makes the day so much more enjoyable for me. When some one waits for me to go by I wave thank you to let them know that I appreciate them waiting. There are enough jerks on the road, I don't need to add to them by irritating others.
I find a toot of my horn goes way farther than any other safety device on my motorcycle.
If you want to piss off other people let me know if we ever get the chance to ride so I won't ride with you, cause it's usually the other person that gets hurt because of the jerks. |

| I'm one of those that will use my low beams with the HID & the PIAA fogs. If someone still decides to pull out in front of me, I'll flash the high beams and then use the brake so I don't get into an unsafe condition/position. The horn doesn't do a thing to help slow me down and keep me out of trouble... |

Posts: 447 Cleveland, GA | High beams on bright; PIAA on all the time; HID on all the time. I had my PIAAs put on a separate switch, so they aren't tied into the high/low beam switch. At night I just dim my brights for oncoming traffic or when I'm behind another vehicle, but keep the HID and PIAAs on. I want to be seen! Other drivers rarely flash their lights at me since I adjusted the alignment of my main light. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | I can't help myself sometimes and can't hold back from responding;
There are two headlights, independant of each other, so I don't buy in on the "still got the lowbeam if the high goes out". I've replaced mine many times and at no time has both ever went out at the same time. Currently I have a regular one (don't ask me what that is) and a "sports" bulb in there now. I'm not going to always replace them together even though I have. It is frustrating enough to replace one and I can do that in about a half hour, but both, that's too much time, so I'll replace the one that goes out.
Also, I still got the orginal HID which is on everytime I ride from the beginning. With nearly 87,000 miles on it, I'm amazed.
I'm all for "being seen" but I find my rides are a whole lot better when I know I will not always be seen, as any other vehicle falls victim to. (big red/yellow fire trucks, flashing police lights on the side of the road, etc, etc, etc...) I pay a lot more attention to whats around me so hopefully my wife won't ever hear someone say "I didn't see him" Riding skills will always outweigh loud pipes and bright lights.
