Posts: 1229 Rancho Cucamonga, CA | I'm working on a route that will get me 49 states, 3 countries and 5 great lakes in 10 days.
Spirit Lake is 3hrs off the route round trip.
Should I do it?
Not sure when I'd ever get back to Iowa, but at some point I prob. would. |

Posts: 169 Iowa | If you can plan it into your schedule, I would suggest going. You'll meet a lot of Vision Riders and Victory enthusiasts at the rally. It is a low key event, as far as rally's go. The AVR is about meeting up with old friends and putting names and faces together from these forums.
Good luck on planning your route. |

What's the total miles for the 10 day part of the ride?
What will your average miles per day be?

Posts: 1229 Rancho Cucamonga, CA | The route I am mapping is about 9450, so I should be doing close to 1k per day. I am inputting it all into google maps right now to get an idea of how many hours it will be, and try to divide it up equally by hours, not mileage. I'm shooting for sometime in May or June. The weather forcasts will be the prime factor of when I go. Iowa is day 7 or 8 on the trip, so it may depend how far ahead or behind schedule I am wether I make Spirit Lake a stop. I kinda just wanted to see the factory and where ViNessA was born. Without a rally going on, I didn't know if it was worth a detour if I did have the time. It would probably mean 30 min less sleep for each day of the ride if I try to schedule it in. I think I'm talking myself out of it and should just plan another trip for Spirit Lake.

Posts: 395 Moravia, IA | Honestly....I would pass.
The tours are only run on a strict schedule....probably wouldnt be able to take a tour. The building isnt much to look at....not worth the effort. |

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | Doing the IBA ride this big takes total focus. I have not done one yet but have done enough research to know that you don't need any side tracking. Go to Spirit Lake when the rally is there and by pass it during this ride. You will be juggling enough without thinking about stopping to take a tour. Glad to see some of the other Vision Riders have offered to help you out with a tour and boat ride, the best of the best on this site!
Ride hard, ride fast, but above all - ride safe and free......
