Posts: 53 Ann Arbor, MI | I stopped by my dealer today and there is a new TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on my bike. It involves the ignition switch and states something along the line of a loose connection causing an interuption of the ignition circuit. The TSB was dated 4-2-08 so I should be getting something in the mail soon. My bike stalled once on the 60 mile trip to the dealer so I hope this is my problem when they look at it later this week.
It sure is nice to get out on the bike again after hibernating all winter. |

| With 1100 miles my Vision, it has stalled out 4 times while coming to a stop, radio cuts out also.
Bike starts backup with no problems, told dealer about the recall they state there is no recall?
Dropped bike off today???
Never had an issue with my KP.

Visioneer where did you purchase your bike?
Bought mine @ Street Sport Cycles in White Lake Mi.
Glad I still have my KP put on 90 miles this afternoon with the wife.
Will take the KP out to Mason tomorrow.

Posts: 53 Ann Arbor, MI | Hi Glock,
Bought mine at Full Throttle near Lansing last September. A Rep from Victory called me and said it was the second one sold in the world.
The radio doesn't cut out when mine stalls. If you do a search for "stalled", "Stalling", etc. you will find mine and other posts related to this evasive issue. |

Posts: 297 VA | I don't know if this is related or not, but I thought I would include it. Mine has not stalled when on a ride (in motion or coming to a stop). However, when I did a demo ride, I was waiting at a stop sign and out of habit, I revved it a little, like you would on a lot of bikes (especially with pipes that sound sweet) and it did stall. The dealer relayed to me that this is a fuel processor problem and that the bikes don't like to be "burped." Thought this was wierd, but he stated that they are correcting the problem next year and that it will be available for this year's bike. But, they are going to charge for it. I've done some riding the last week or so, and I haven't burped it, and it hasn't stalled. So, don't know if it's related to that same issue with the ignition or not. But, if someone knows, please let me know since I take it Wednesday to get the first service. Thanks.

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | I don't think the Vision has to be "burped". If you know a GW owner, ask them if they "burp" their GWs. To me "burping" as you describe it is a HD thing. My HD friends do it aaaallllll the time. Go under a over pass......."BURPING" "BURPING" BURPING". What is all this "burping" going to do in the long run.......is it all hot air, or is it really the cause for global warming? Let's get Al Gore on the phone to see what he has to say. |

Posts: 293 Arkansas | Mine doesn't have to be burped; it will
sometimes stall at normal opening of throttle
off idle. You can avoid it by a gradual slow opening
to get few rpm's going and then open normally and
add clutch. Does it right at initial cracking open, but
not every time. Don't really see how they could charge
for a safety issue like that for an admitted problem.
It will get me or somebody else hurt if it happens at
just the right time. Need more facts though. There are
a few looking into it- we'll see how it turns out .

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Interesting on all the recall info concerning switches and other fixes. I'll follow up with my dealer to be sure. I've got 9.3k on mine now since Nov. and experienced many stalls coming down the highway, exiting to the stop sign and then it would die. I could refire and move on like nothing happened. Of course on restart the radio would cut-off and then come back on. After several running back and forth to the dealer with no resolution I was rather frustrated but tolerated the intermittant stall. At the last service 7.5k it came out running fine. The tech told me that the plugs were rather fouled, an indication of running rich, and he cleaned them. Since then she runs like a scolded dog. I asked for an explaination and he just said that since it is a closed loop system, it perhaps doesn't like starting, idling for a long time and then turnin' off without riding, or any of that blipping, burping or whatever else it is called.
Sounds like a reasonable explaination to me, since when I first got it I would start it so folk could listen to it and then turn it off, or I would blip sitting at stop lights out of habit.
I hope this helps because some stalling may be simply fouled plugs. If not, by all means get the recall done.

Posts: 293 Arkansas | The latest recall won't have anything to do with this stalling thing. If it did you would have random electrical power interruption (more likely would not recover once it started)- not repeat episodes under same conditions. |

Posts: 297 VA | I kinda figured that this recall won't correct that issue. I guess what concerns me about stalling when "burping" (sorry, I don't know any other term for it, and yeah, it came from Harley's because the older ones had a hard time getting the right mixture, and so riders would burp them when going slower to keep them from stalling, at least that is how it was explained to me) is that it shouldn't do it period. I had a Kawasaki before this, which I put a power commander on. The power commander becomes the fuel processor, controlling the injection of fuel. I could rev it, burp it, whateevr, without it stalling out. SO that does concern me. So far though I personally haven't had the bike cut out, or stall when coming to a stop or anything like that, so I am hoping that I don't have the problems that other are reporting. I expect some problems with a totall new bike, but if burping the bike causes it to stall, and the dealer knows that next year the processor will be different to correct the problem, I would think this is a warranty issue. I'm interested to see how Victory handles these issues. I believe they have a good product. I just hope that they stand behind it and are willing to sacrifice a little of the bottom line to maintain a reputation that will keep them in business for many years. I know that Harley's have problems all the time, and they are still in business, but they've built their reputation, and that's what keeps them going. They've become iconic, and I hope that Victory shoots for the same goal because that is what I believe will keep them around for the next 50 years. It's odd to me that Harley has such a devoted following. Lots of people buy their bikes BECAUSE it's a Harley. I like Harley's alright, but it seems that all of my friends spend a great deal of time working on them, rather than riding them. If Harley made cars, they'd go out of business because everyone wants a reliable car that will last for years with few repairs. I just hope that Victory trys to build a reputation that carries it for years. |
