I have had a few people email me about the build I had done on my new vision so I thought I would post what I thought so far. It's a Llodz S&S big bore 116 with cam's and power commander and D&D pipes.
I got the bike back a little over a week ago and kept it under 2500rpm's for the 500 mile brake in. It now has the 500 mile service and I was able to "get on it" last night and this morning. It runs smooth as silk! The torque is incredible. As I was getting on the highway I was in 3rd coming off the ramp. I gunned it and the front tire came off the ground! It is smooth and fast. This time of year everything slows down in the bike world. No open houses and no Llodz visits. I want to get it on the Dyno to have him fine tune it and see what it can do but I will need to hold off till spring time. I should have over 10K on it by then. The shop that did the work (Mom's south in Foxboro Ma) is doing his 3rd 116 big bore on a Xbike now. He loves doing them and from what I can tell so far he is good at it. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.

Let us know how fuel mileage is. Part of me thinks that with such a heavy bike, the extra power would help it move easier. Sounds cool!

So far I have not seen any improvement but I do think it will get better mileage.

So I gotta be nosy and ask... What does the 116 cost? Does that include cams & power commander as a package? Guess you got piped too...

Yes but to be honest I really have no idea. When I traded my 08 in I worked the number out with everything added in. I had a rack put on the back and side wind deflectors. I had the put on D&D pipes too. I would say the engine build came in around 5k tho. The head mechanic Matt told me if I knew anyone looking to do it he would work out a good number for them. He loves doing that kind of work. He said he gets tiered of doing the boring stuff lol They are the largest victory dealer so they do a lot of "add on chrome " type work. He likes to do the engine work. I hope this helps. You can get the parts prices off Llodz site and ask your mechanic what he would charge to put it in. Llodz is also doing a shipping package right now. You could ship it to him and have the master work on it himself! or if your in Fl talk to KevinX

Wow, now I can imagine pulling the front wheel in second, but third. This must be a TQ monster. I would need to add a heel shifter if I go here to stay on top of the bike, this is kinda like a 800 lb horse blowing up in you face, only difference is you have the throttle in your hand instead of just reins! Let us know the dyno numbers in the spring. Vision riders may be few but we have the absolute sharpest HI-PO people in the business.

Ride hard, ride fast, but above all - ride safe...

Labor for the Big Bore kit and the kit should be about $2,600.
Will not include pipes, fuel controllers, head work or any other extras.

ok I checked the MPG last nigh on a long ride to Rhode Island. The bike is telling me im getting 49.5 MPG on my 08 I was getting about 42-43MPG. I was really hitting it last night too. Plus with the temp in the 20's I am letting it warm up a long time before riding. So I would say it's a lot better. Keep in mind I have the power comandor on it so the comp. on the bike might be off.

Here are my questions:

  • Fuel Mileage (calculation, not onboard computer.  My onboard computer isn't very accurate)?
  • Dyno Chart and numbers ?
  • What clutch are you using ?
  • Any pinging ?
  • Any heat issues ?
  • Any other issues ?
I would love to give one a test ride.

Thanks,

Tim

Tim I can't answer most of your questions but hereare some answers.

* Fuel Mileage (calculation, not onboard computer. My onboard computer isn't very accurate)?

I agree with you about the onboard computer. It has just been to dam cold here to brake out a pad and pencil and calculate it. I will do it next time I fill up. I can tell you I'm getting about 20 miles more on a tank. The 49.5 MPG on the Comp has not changed.

* Dyno Chart and numbers ?

I don?t think ill see Llodz till the spring. I would love to know myself!

* What clutch are you using ?

Stock clutch. I thought they had to change it but they told me they only changed the green spring. I have no idea what he was talking about.

* Any pinging ?

No pinging but the temp's here have been in the 20's. It could change when it gets warmer. It dose take a couple min for the engine to warm up. There is a slight knock when you 1st start it till it warms up. But when its in the 20's the oil gets thick. It smoothes right out after a couple min.

* Any heat issues ?

Yes turn it on!!!! Its cold up here. Lol It is hard to tell if it runs hotter. There are plusses to that when you ride in cold weather. I did wash the bike the other day and when I hit it with the hose it really steamed up. More then my 08 ever did. I would wash my 08 a lot in the winter. Only time will tell.

* Any other issues ?

Yes and im not trying to be funny here. I find myself riding a lot faster. I pass cars like they are standing still. I seem to be much more inpatient when I'm riding. I know im going to get a ticket soon. The bike is just to much fun. I love the D&D pipes too. They are a little louder then I wanted but they have a deep Throaty sound to them. A lot like a set of Harley V&H pipes.

Thanks for the update and keep us posted.

I got pinched after I got my cams so I bought a Passort/Escort 9500ix for the bike.  I time share it between the bike and car now.

Since the economy has gone into the crapper, the cops are writing tickets like it was open hunting season trying to generate more revenue.  I have never seen so many speed traps out here in the past 14 years as I am seeing now.  Where were they during the dot.com boom ???

I suspect that the On-board milage computer does not see any additional fuel added by a fuel controller. Very much interesed in seeing any differewnce between the on-board calculated milage and milage derived from the old fashioned pencil and paper method.

I am looking at radar detectors but I would like to try and find something I can build into the bike. I don't want to take it on and off all the time. I will be filling up on my way home from work today but I did not get a starting reading so I will need to calculate the mileage in a couple days when I fill up again.
Another point. I only use 93 octane. I know that some areas only have 91 but we have 93 at almost every gas station. That might be why I have no pinging.

Ok I have the true MPG's. I did a pencil and paper calc and came up with 34.32 mpg. That is far les then the 49.5 on the computer. I think it's because of the power commander dumping more gas then the bike computer is reading. But with that said I have also been running the bike for a good 5-10 min. to warm it up because of the low temp's (in the 20's here last week) The bike seems to be running very rich too.

So where does it end? I want the turbo Mission 200 motor slightly de-tuned (150 HP) so I don't become toast on the street and need to rebuild it every 200 miles. Put it in my Vision and get rid of the history paperwork. This would pull the front wheel in all gears except sixth, right? Really need a heel/toe shifter now. Stand by all Victory bike owners, all racing projects come back to satisify us all in good time for that need for speed and more power. I am over 50 but not all used up and would love to pound Mission 200 down the salt. If you want to get a feeling for the salt on a bike watch "The World's Fastest Indian", reminds me of all the Vision Riders that have the ability, fortitude and skill level to try and do projects that are out of the box and succeed. The new turbo setup from Lloydz will bring hot rodding a Victory to new levels, not just the Vision if I know Lloyd. I am sure most of us would welcome taking our riding experience to the next level. I know Lloyd wiill let us all:

Ride hard, ride fast, but above all-ride safe and free.....

My only thought about MPGs is....WHO CARES!!!
You don't put a big block where a V-6 once sat and worry about MPGs.
You're thinking about how the heck to hang on as you spin through the gear.
Dude, open it up and let it FLY!!!!
I have to admit that right now I am suffering from 116 envy.....BAD!!!!

Very nice, GREAT NUMBERS and very even torque curve. All this with a 116" big bore kit, pipes, PC V & tuning. No head work ?? Wow, wonder how much it would make with a nice street port job and oversize valves ??.......................I'll bet it really hauls ass..............

Fred,

The graph looks great.  Do you still have quiet pipes, or did Lloydz change the stock pipes?

Congrats,
