Posts: 15 Nashville | Victory is offering $1,000 in accessories if you buy a new bike prior to Dec. 31st. I am about to buy the '10 vision. What accessory do you guys think it would be the most useful?

The only Vic accessories that I regret not getting when I purchased my bike were the touring accessories - luggage rack, communication /cb /xm radio set up and GPS.
Since my original purchase I have added both the OEM GPS and the OEM luggage rack, although there are now excellent rack alternatives to the OEM product from Cycleops and folks here have farkeled (is that actually a verb?) many GPS alternatives to the OEM offering.

There are three non VIC accessories that I now consider safety or comfort essentials (for me).

These are accessories that I added to my 2008 Vision. They really dress up the bike and add so much to its appearance. My list exceeds your $1000.00, but during the winter months your dealer might negotiate these prices as they are MSRP out of the 2011 catalouge.
Front Fender Accent, part # 2876575, $50.00.
Chrome Rear Valence, part # 2875773, $150.00.
Chrome Lock Button, part # 2876850, $35.00.
Chrome Clutch Arm Cover, part # 2874754, $60.00.
Trunk Rack, part # 2875739, $400.00.
XM Radio, part # 2877671, $430.00.
At 20,000 miles my Vision is running smoother and faster than when it was new and all the accessories and XM radio still look and sound great! Like thousands of others, "I Love MY Vision!"

Thank you so much for the advise. I am thinking that the GPS might be a good choice even though I never had one in my whole life. However, now that I live in TN, it might be worth it so that I can explore and get "lost" on the secondary roads. As for the additional chrome, I think I need to google images of the vision to see the changes on the appearance...

I have no idea what the new Garmin system for the 2010s costs.
But it might be worth considering using the $1000 credit to get things that you want that cannot be sourced from other vendors for less money.
On the other hand, there is something to be said for the convenience of having the dealer deliver the bike ready to go, with what you want on it. Then you can take the long way home, with your new GPS guiding you along the route speaking soothingly in her electronic BBC accent.

a BIG +1 on this. buy the mount (comes with cable) and source the GPS elsewhere. Vic wants too much money for this setup. If you are a 3/4 or full helmet rider, I would look at the CB / Intercom kit. This way you could pump the the sounds into your helmet. |

Posts: 15 Nashville | I am not sure. If I were you, I would print the coupon from their website, and take it to the dealer. Point out that they should honor this coupon since the purchase was made within 30 days. Some times, they might go for it. But I am not sure. Good Luck on that one. |

Posts: 15 Nashville | You guys are very right in regard to the GPS. Perhaps, I should buy just the mount, and the unit on line somewhere else. For some reason, I thought the mount would be different since it is a GPS is made for Victory. On the other hand, I just realized that it would be crazy for Garmin to built a completely different mount just for them.

I agree the GPS and XM stuff is nice to have, but quite frankly there are MUCH cheaper ways to get both. For example you can buy any BTooth GPS and pipe it into your lid. I have a TT Rider which I throw in the trunk most of the time and let it give me instructions via the BT in my lid. No need to mount anything and it can be plugged into the trunk powerlet. There are also several XM radio's which plug into the Vision radio lead (like any mp3) which only cost $40.... So for me it is more important to have functional necessities added. JMO |

Driver back rest.
An extra windshield, which depends on how you ride, some want a taller shield.
Trunk mirror, my wife just loves it.
The soft luggage for the bags
Trunk mat.
Trunk organizer.
Bag lid nets.

You'll do well with a trunk rack for the tour, or a passenger backrest if you want to go street or if you're getting an 8-ball. The taller windshield is a plus if you're riding two up and the pillion unit doesn't want a lot of wind in the face.

I'd use it get the upgraded, heated grips depending on the model you decide on. Too bad none of Lloydz goodies are in their catalog or you'd be set! |

Posts: 323 Troy, NY | I would go with the Stage 1 Level 1 upgrade, the lower air deflectors and the trunk mirror. That should be close to $1000 right there. The GPS setup is way overpriced and I just use my iPhone with a GPS app. If you are patient you can find good deals on chrome pieces on eBay.....well that is what I have done with some success.

Posts: 742 North Orange County CA | "Performance" upgrades like the Vic S1L1 may be great for some, it should be pointed out that if installed without other modifications they are one of the primary causes of complaints about exhaust popping and erratic throttle response, and stalling.
I don't think I have ever heard anyone on this site praise the Victory fuel mapping for this modification.
You might take notice that the guys who are advocating this mod have invested between , a several hundred and, a couple of thousand bucks in aftermarket EFI controllers, high flow intakes, cams, etc.
Not saying don't do it, just be aware that performance mods can take you down a road that has a lot of toll booths on it.

I was considering trailering the bike, but it seem like many people advised to drive it back. Thus, I am going to be adventurous and drive 300 miles... in the 40's and misty... |

The next $1k went for Heel Blades, rLiNk alarm/locater and tinted lenses front and back. |
