Posts: 639 Tri Cities, WA | Hey all it's been awhile since my last post. I do poke in and read and see whats up on a weekly basis. I need some help from you guys/gals. Who has an all black vision tour posted with pics here or cand send me?
Here is why I am asking:
Today I was in my local Victory shop where I bought my 08 Black vision tour premium buying goodies for Xmas for the wife and myself. The owner walks up to me and says hey I'm going to start riding this Ness Vision here on myfloor as my own but I want it all chrome and I know your bike has it all and I heard that you where thinking about maybe blacking out your ride. So we started to talk about it more and more and he is willing to have his mechanic swap item for item. He gets my chrome I get his black ness parts. He even said he would incure the labor cost and have his mechanic do it all and I would help as well.
It would really make my bike look different but I would like to see an all blacked out Vision tour first before deciding. He even would take my chrome handle bars for his black ones, and forks, etc. I asked him well you own the store why not just throw new chrome on it and he said he was out of stock and didnt want to add the cost of buying all that chrome since he knows my bike is premium shape and we both would get what we wanted for our rides. So any help from you guys would be great.
Also Happy Holidays to everyone. |

Clip View/Play in upper left to see them as a mini slideshow https://backup.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=896b6a8d586073af9da6 Your dealer is giving you a one in a million deal......go for it, but there might be a few parts on the Ness I would consider not doing on the swap, but rather taking another approach. PM me with your phone number and I will call you. I still have a few things to do, but hope these pix will help you. Best Mike

Posts: 244 Tucson , AZ | Here is a pic of my blacked out vision.. You cant get any blacker than this one. Its started off as a stock stripped street version. If you go to my site there is a blacked out 8 ball on the front page as well.
I know you are loosing the chrome.... but the fact he i eating all the labor makes it a sweet deal for you. I think its a great deal.

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Here's another nice blacked out Vision with Ness Evil-7 wheels - 21" on the front, 17" on the rear. I personally like the taller stance (long legs). You can actually see the rear wheel, no more dragging floorboards in the twisties and putting air in the rear tire would be easier. Put a solo seat with a "smuggler" compartment where the rear seat would have been and I would be hard pressed not to get another one. http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/photos/photo-thumbnails.asp?albumid=167 |

Posts: 639 Tri Cities, WA | Thanks for the replys, pics and feed back. It really is appreciated very much. There are some sweet pics of visions all blacked out. I have never done an all black bike before and I have been a huge fan of chrome and I thought it would be nice to try something out of my chrome comfort zone and see what happens during the down riding months of winter..
I'm going to keep my motor chrome but darken everything else out. If we do this I will order the clear front turn signals lens as well and ditch the orange ones. I will also order the cycleops black lower wind deflector's and the upper ones that are mounted under the rear view mirrors black as well.
I'm heading in today to talk to him and go over the details and see if we can make this deal happen. I'm glad he came to me about this because it makes me feel better about the deal itself. I'm attaching a photo of my bike in it's current state below. I will also keep everyone posted as this project moves forward or not.

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I forgot what the stock 2008 rims looked like untill I went back and looked at the photos in my gallery. It was one of the best thing I did. I needed front and rear rubber. I was getting them replaced at the dealer and asked if they could leave the bike on a jack while I hade the powder coating done. They sent them out for me. $200, plus an extra &50 in labor to remove the pully and rotors. Couldn't be happier. While I was at it I had the pully and the belt guard done too. |

Hi Michael I agree.....and felt the stock 08 rims would look better when powder coated black than the 8 Ball rims which to me had an early 80s vintage Honda look with the non painted edging on each spoke. I will have the pulley and a few other left over things done with the next tire change Mike |

Posts: 639 Tri Cities, WA | Nice cw1115.
OK so the deal has been struck and I'm taking the bike in next weekend to have the change begin. If the weather is bad he said he drives by my place everyday to his dealership and he will come by on his way to work and just pick it with his trailer. This is going to be fun. I also dropped off a pair of 08 stock vision rims to have powder coated gloss black at the dealership today when I spoke to them about the swap. So I'm getting all the chrome panels removed and replaced with black panels, black Handlebars, black Front forks, rotor, calipers, brake/clutch Res, Black passenger floor boards, Black hand rails, and black tip overs F/R. I'm sure I'm leaving some other minor stuff out but I will take a before pic and after pic.
I plan to order in the coming months a black Bailey's windshield, Clear front turn lens, and cycleops upper and lower deflectors to replace my clear ones. Thanks for a place to bend all your ears. :-) |

Posts: 156 dinwiddie, va | If you dont want to spend the extra money for deflectors, we send all of ours to a local sign company. He uses black vinyl on the inner side of the deflectors. I have done my upper deflectors and my shorty windshield for summer riding. It's a fraction of the price I'm sure and looks great |

I also put a design on it with Made in USA and Flag. Plan now is for Cycle Opps deflectors... then give it a go in spring with the vinyl wrap. I will post a link to design for this later today....having some issues with my computer

Posts: 156 dinwiddie, va | Yeah I had Victory printed on mine with black vinyl laid over it. turned out really nice. I will get some pics up if interested. When it is done on the inside only it looks like it was painted. Plastic gives it a glossy blac appearance |

Work in progress. Price is much lower that painting both front and back....... plus then putting artwork as shown on the front. https://backup.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=896b6a8e5f5f6fb2a0a9

Posts: 156 dinwiddie, va | P.S. VisionNWRider I like the presence of the mighty Dodges lurking in the background of our pics. I actually just disassembled my headlights and painted the trim black yesterday. Which, by the way, I pulled apart a Vision headlight and blacked it out as well. Looks good. I am gonna do mine after Christmas. I will have to get a pic up of tha too. If any interest of course!

Why not black out or carbon fiber cover the bottoms of the passenger foot rest?
Other wise it comes close to making me question my Midnight Cherry color selection. |

Posts: 156 dinwiddie, va | I probably only have about $150 in powder coating. But I get a really good deal on it because we do so much through the dealership. It is really easy to get the backrest off of the mount. For the luggage rack, I heated the bottom side of the luggage rack until the rubber pads got warm and just pulled them off. After they were powder coated I used gorilla glue to put them back on

Posts: 156 dinwiddie, va | It is Vital Signs of chester. His name is Rick Halder. If I remeber correctly, I think he charges $50 for a set of deflectors. Upper or lowers. But don't quote me. If you wanna do something like i did, it will probably be a little more. He actually has to print and cut it in reverse so it reads backwards. But he is really good. If anyone is interested. I can get them to him. You can just send them to my shop and I can take them over to him. He is just a couple miles away |

| nightvision - 2010-12-17 1:01 PM here is a descent pic of headlight. Great idea and the results are amazing. In the future, I would expect this be on future all black Visions from the factory. Truthfully, it has a lot more appeal and sense to me than some of the other styling ques being offered today on the Vision Mike |

I really cant blame him and completely understand so it looks like i will be keeping my look for while. Which I'm very happy with and love anyways. So maybe in the future we can try again. |
