I have read opinions and ideas here regarding the Rear View mirrors on the vision.

My dealer sent me a 50% off coupon so I picked up a set of Arlen Ness mirrors and put them on. You don't realize how bad the angle of the stock mirrors are until you install a set on the bars. It's much better. Here is a link to a clip of what they look like.

It does semm a bit weird to have 4 mirrors for rear view, but I haven't decided what to do for the long haul.

Interesting. I've been thinking about getting the Hercules mirrors to mount above the existing mirrors.

Not for me. I think the stock Vision mirrors work fine for seeing behind me. The only thing I see these add-on mirrors doing is giving you the idea that you don't need to turn your head to clear your side. Besides, they give a whole new dimension to ugly.

I agree there is no replacement for turning to look when changing lanes or making turns. The problem I have with the stock mirrors is that no matter how I adjust them there isn't enough angle to get a view of what is coming up behind me until they are too close.

Once I added the new mirrors, I can see much better the whole area to the rear. On a cruise in the country it's not that big of a deal, but in the city I'm in with all of the crazy drivers I need all the help I can get.

I do notice that some folks see great with them, and some do not. I wonder if it has anything to do with how high a rider sits?

As far as aesthetics, I'm still on the fence with how I feel about the look. If I keep the handlebar mirrors, I will probably have to eventually lose the stock mirrors.

Which mirror did you use? The 01200 or the 01205?

I agree they look super ugly and cheapen the look of the bike!! I have had no problem with visibility on my vision! I think that add ons, ie. mirrors, leather grip streamers, flags and decals, take all the class out of the bike!!

chappellj, I've thought about some folks saying the mirrors are great and some saying they are bad for the last three years. I believe it is due to rider height as you have stated. The angle of the riders view makes a big difference. For me, I cannot adjust the mirror enough to take out looking at my hands and grips. Good idea on the mirrors, can do it with the 08's though. I think going to a nice handle bar mounted mirror and turning the faring area into storage areas or putting a bigger speaker area with a radio amp would be a better idea.

On the 2008 Visions you would have to drill and tap the Brake and Clutch for the mirrors.

I like those chapellj, there is no price for safety.

In browsing this forum, or somewhere I came across a custom vision where the guy took the old mirror space and put in some speakers and then added the mirrors like you did, I believe there was a video. Like radioteacher, I have an 2008 and would have to tap out the holes.

I've grown accustom to the stock mirrors, and as any safe motorcycle rider should do, I always do an over the shoulder check. I think the mirrors on the bar would make it more safe given you know how you ought to ride.

I thought that at first, but actually the pointed ends are extra. There is plenty of surface space for rear view and they provide the wrap around view to the rear I was missing.

I personally like the way they look. I think the shape matches the lines of the vision very well. I have never liked Fairing mounted mirrors, they look too goldwingish or something. But that's why there are different looking bikes, because we all reflect our personalities in one way or another.

I might remove the stock mirrors and fashion a leather cover that velcros on somehow so I'll have a place to put gloves or glasses. I don't know, but I won't give up the handlebar mirrors after riding with them for a couple hundred miles. I don't even look at the stock location anymore.

The first thing I added were two small wedge shaped convex mirrors to the upper outside edges of the Vision mirrors-it filled in the huge blind spot directly behind the bike nicely.

I think the stock mirrors are fine and if your not sure what's behind you, turn your head and take a look!! With the added mirrors, hardware, GPS and extra junk it starts to look like an old mans Goldwing!!! lol jmo

What about mounting the hercules mirrors under the existing mirrors, by or instead of the upper deflectors ? My brother had a fat boy that he mounted the mirrors down instead of up and it looked and worked great. They may be just low enough to get the grips out of the view. Or it may not work AND look like crap. IDK, just brainstorming.
