Posts: 3204 Memphis | Sturgis 2011 is scheduled for Aug 8-14th and the AVR has always been the weekend after Sturgis. I have to pick all my vacation slots for 2011 by next weekend so am blocking Aug 18-20th for the AVR. I'm also taking about 10 days off after the AVR and would like to head on over to Vancouver and meet some of you Canadians! If these dates for the AVR are wrong for some reason, please give me a heads up by next Friday. |

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | Wanted to give my "employer" my dates for vacation. Turns out I was let go on 11/10/10. Downsizing, ya it's all about kissing ass as far as I know. Not bitter but I hope I don't ride or see the rest of the "protected crew" in the interm. Too chicken shit to ride, SO THE REST OF THE HISTORY IS ON IT'S OWN......

Sorry to hear of your predicament. Hope you get hooked into a new job soon. My department has put off hiring for so many years and added so much more work that we are adding three full time positions. Two of the three started this week and the third will be on in about two weeks.
I hope that like our company, businesses in your area are starting to hire.
Ride Safe. |

8-ball, I know it hits hard, especially around the holidays. I was out of work for 9 months until last April. It plays with your head. I hope you get back in the workforce soon.
What type of work are you looking for? Maybe some on this board have/know of work or connections. It really is all about networking.
Best of luck!

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | That's really a bummer to loose your job prior to the holidays. Hope you can find something soon. As far as vacation for the AVR next year I won't have to schedule any. After 41 years on the job, I'm hanging it up at the end of March. So if any of you unemployed mechanical engineers out there what to relocate to the huricane country...my job will be open soon. |

Civil engineer here -- no civil funds available. Social security income buys gas. See you at Sturgis? |

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | Thanks to all for your comments. Just got back from my last ride for the year on "Twister" and "Hotrod". Added the fuel stabilizer filled them up and rode the livin crap out of both of them. Both back in the garage and were pouting as I closed the garage door. I hate the heat in the Southwest but really hate not riding for soooo many months. My job search is opened up to the whole USA where I can ride 11 months out of the year. Lived in AZ, TX, and CA and have no real need to go back. Hell I only had med. clothes on today and it was 42 when I left. God I love the heated seat and hand grips. Have a great day!

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | Bikes are still pouting when I open the garage door! Looks like they are female's bound to punish me this winter. I only hope I can calm them down and make up the difference this spring. Will have to wait but my secret plan is to drive them both down to Elkhorn A-plus Powersports and trade them in on a 2011 8-ball. I hate not riding but was lucky this year with an extended season. Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | Will be rockin in on a new job opportunity starting next Monday. Means moving from the Milwaukee area to the Neillsville area. Neillsville is the home for a very special place called the "High Grounds" which is a Veterans Memorial Park. I normally get there twice a year and now will be able to help out all year long. Not a Vet but have a huge spot in my heart for all Vets, present and fallen, remember they allow all of us Brothers and Sisters to ride safe and free in the wind....
