Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I'm hoping it will survive the winter, but when I hit the starter first thing in the morning it makes a loud screeching noise. It is a sound much like bearing failure in electric motors. So far it only does it in the morning, and if I have to hit the starter button a second time to get it to start, it doesn't do it. Has anyone had a starter issue similar to what I'm describing??? |

Probably something inside the actual starter that drags on the first pull. ~$312 for starter on line, comes with o-ring. Doesn't look like it is too hard to change. A long-long time ago, I had a car that ate up starters once or twice a year. I could change anywhere, actually carried a spare in the trunk. Good luck! |

| Say if your not under warranty look for a auto electric repair shop. A buddy tuck his bike starter to one and they fixed it with better bearings and a better armature for less that a stock starter.
I am sure you checked the cables on both ends right. |

Posts: 3 South of Sweden | Could be the starter drive clutch aswell. Mine is replaced on a '10 vision. It doesn't turn the engine at all when i push the starter. But if it slips a little before it grips it makes a really loud screeching noise (on an old sukiyaki anyway).
Winter almost over :-) |
