Posts: 965 New York State | 2008 Vision Throttle will not return.
So I bring Deer Crusher to the shop.
I had made an appointment for my 17500 mile service.
Adam is looking the bike over and asks about the throttle.
I mention that the previous service manager was looking into it too.
I thought nothing of the throttle becausae I always roll off.
Adam saw it as a safety concern and wanted to check it out.
So now it seems my throttle body is warped.
As a Trek fan this made me think it was the secret to black bikes being faster
But a warped anything in the engine of a motorcycle is a problem.
So Polaris and my dealer have to sort this out .
I have no idea when I will see Deer Crusher again....
Anybody hear anything about a problem like this ? |

| Look for the best and maybe its just a bad throttle cable. If not I hope victory pays for it. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | my initial thought was the throttle itself as KevinX says, because of the deer strike, but the real question is, did it start before or after the hit? Not that I've toyed around the throttle body, I just couldn't picture it being warped at all. |

Posts: 965 New York State | The bike was 5 days on the road when I encountered Bambi. After it was repaired and returned to me I began putting on the miles. I never noticed any problem with the throttle,I always roll off the gas. It was the original Sevice Manager who noticed that the throttle stuck. It was as I picked up the bike he said he woulds look at it the next service. He and I never saw each other again.
I had this recent appointment and Adam the new Service manager noticed the hang up right away and asked me I explained that it does stick but it does not affect me personally. He felt it was a safety issue. He took apart the handle and the cable no hang ups there it was later on phone that he said he thought the throttle body was warped.
I spoke to him on phone the other day he said Polaris was interested in read outs from the computer. He mentioned " You have another bike to ride" The Vision will be here awhile.
I have no idea what is the hang up. But a 200 lb deer did hip check me against the cheese wedge after picking up his shoulder with my headlight at 30 MPH

Happened to me too, but I could not push the grip on any further. Mine happened when the heated grips were on or when it was super hot outside. So a little sandpaper on the rubber grip end with a touch of grease and it worked great. |

Posts: 965 New York State | I have been wondering about that myself.
My main theory is the throttlebody was damaged in the deer encounter.
It will be interesting to find out what the shop thinks... |

Posts: 51 Ennis, Tx | My throttle was hanging up once the temps got above 84 and even when the heated grips were turned on. Weatherford Victory fixed it in a couple of hours - some kinda of sides were rubbing up against the end by the stops... I haven't not had any problems since... Bike only had 5k miles... Works like a charm now... Hope they get ya fixed up quickly |

| I have been thinking that when us riders have problems with sticky throttles swollen heated grips or bikes quitting when making a corner or it just quiets for what ever reason and it puts our lives at risk. Maybe we should file a complaint with the national highway safety board.
I know your problem will be fix but maybe it should have never happened. |

I am a firm believer in the Government watching out that products are safe. That said.
Riding a motorcycle is not a safe activity. Neither is Hunting ,fishing ,Skiing and most sports. These are personal choices made by reasonable adults.
Now if Victory's were suddenly accelerating with no throttle applied. I would expect some Government intervention.
My throttle is sticky which could be hazardous but if you roll off the throttle the danger is gone . The cause has not been made known to me yet. When I find out I will post it.
The bug in my Vision may be a defect or just a left over from my impact with a deer.
Let's not rush to the Government without giving Polaris an opportunity to repair the issue.
If Uncle Sam starts trying to make motorcycling safer we may all find ourselves on Can -Am Spiders because they can't tip over |

Posts: 965 New York State | Deer Crusher is home. The folks at www.locomotionpowersports.com did a great job.
I saw the Throttle body there are plastic bushings for the throttle and cruise cables they are set in a flat rectangular housing sitting between the tank and engine.
My 08 Vision had the stock Gas cap. Turns out this cap leaks and the fuel lands on the throttle body.
Polaris is aware of the gas cap thing the new cap comes with a sticker warning not to put the gas pump handle in the bike roughly because aluminum tank can bend.
SO THE TROTTLE BODY DID NOT WARP THE BUSHINGS MELTED OVER TIME.
If you have an 08 Vision and still have the stock gas cap check out if you have been leaking |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | Trekwolf164, I'm thinking maybe something may not have gotten put back together right after your unwanted meeting with the deer. A gas leak or spill at the gas cap-nozzle will spill into a contained area below the cap. That area is attached to a drain tube, which will route the spill to just under the motor and right floor board, well below the motor. If the tube is missing or not attached, the gas will spill on the motor...not good. Sounds like the tubing is not attached or missing on your bike. To check this, using a small amount of water, carefully pour it into the catch tray under the gas cap. If the water runs on to the motor, the tubing is missing or disconnected. I'm glad your Vision is back home. Take care. |

| Being a new vision rider I kinda laugh in a way the first time I put gas in the bike. The gas cap is very old style but I did bend a edge of the the bung and would smell gas till it went down and finally after a 4 or 5 fill ups I saw where I had bent a edge. I fixed it and the gas smell went away. Luckily no problems from it.
I have seen at harley and I think fleet farm where they sell a orange foam bung protector. Something like this might help us all.
I don't know it it will fit our bikes.
