Posts: 273 Midlothian, Va. | Got all the bolts out and it's loose but it doesn't want to come up and I don't want to start yanking on stuff. So what's the secret?

1. Remove the instrument bezel (page 3.19).
2. Open the fuel door by turning key switch fully counterclockwise.
3. Remove (5) console screws using a 4 or 6mm
hexagonal wrench. Note the location of the ground
wire under the right rear console screw for assembly.
4. Lift the console up and lay it on a protective pad on
the left side.
5. Disconnect the wires from each switch at the front of
the console, noting wire colors and locations for
assembly. Wire connections are shown below (as

Here is a video where I remove that part to remove the seat. I pull it at about 1:30 into the video.

Posts: 273 Midlothian, Va. | Finally got it off and now I can't get the buttons out so I can put carbon fiber covering on the console. I also couldn't figure out how to get the antenna wire out of the radio and have exposed some of the copper wire. I have a bad feeling about that. My VTX's were so easy to work on but this bike has intimidated me big time. Damn sure rides nice tho. edit.... hooked the radio back up and only static so I've screwed the antenna wire coming out of the radio.<br />

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | don't dispare, that's a standard wire from the radio to the plug in right behind the cowl cover up front. I'm sure a little splicing and dicing with a new wire will get you back in bizness... |
