Have had my Vision Tour since the week of Thanksgiving. Have had a few of the problems that others here have already discussed, I.E. saddlebag and trunk lid dents, chrome dents, and saddlebag lid misalignment. Dealer is working on the dent issues, I have fixed the misalignment issue myself. For those of you that have the alignment problem, it will help if you oval out the hinge mounting holes to move the hinge more than what the stock hinge allows. Once I did this, it was easy to align, but then when the lid is all the way down I would get a popping noise out of the hinge. The cause of the problem was that the hinge was shifted enough that the edge of the hinge was on the edge of the nut retainer the hinge bolt screws into, and the weight of the lid was causing the hinge to pop. In time, this would crack the plastic that holds the nut retainer. So, I fabricated a cable retainer that limits how far the lid opens. It will still allow the lid to fully open, but stops it so the weight doesn't cause the popping, plus it is out of the way and doesn't interfere with loading the bags. I am surprised that the factory didn't come up with this. In time, I am sure some will have lids crack off due to fatigue of that plate. If others are interseted in how I did this, let me know and I'll try and post pics.

My only other problem is one I haven't heard of yet and because of the amount of time it took to fix, I hope this was an isolated case... Had the luxury of going to bike week in Daytona this year. Once I got down there I noticed the HID lamp looked different. Upon further inspection I found that the reflector in front of the bulb had fallen off. Went to the Victory Trailer at the bike show and showed to an engineer. He told me it was a sealed unit and no way to fix, I needed a whole new lamp assembly. While I was there they asked me my opinion of the bike. One thing you never want to give a retired Marine is a chance to bitch. I told him I, along with others, were pissed that they let the bikes go from the factory with the saddlebag and trunk lid dents, the dents in the chrome, and the soft clearcoat that scratches easily. He told me they were hearing about these problems. I asked him why they weren't found before they left the factory. He said they were faint dimples and hard to see during production. I told him they needed to fire their QC's. He didn't like that statement. When asked what they were going to do about it, he said he didn't know, but they were discussing it. I, in very short order, told him what I thought of that. I asked him if he bought a brand new car then got it home and found dents and scratches in it would he expect the dealer to fix it? He said of course he would. At that point I gave him the thousand mile stare for a minute or 2, then he shook his head and said" yeah, i know what you mean, we'll be discussing all these problems once I return". So, hopefully we will get some resolve with these issues from the factory.

Now back to the HID reflector... Once I returned from Daytona, called the dealer and told them about the reflector in the lamp. They ordered it and it came in Thursday. Took the bike there today to get it fixed. It took me and the mechanic 2 hours to change the lamp. What a PITA it was. Had to disassemble the majority of the front of the bike to change. At least now I know how the front of the bike comes apart. One great thing about my dealer (Wilmington Powersports) is that they let me work alongside the mech so I can learn how to take the bike apart. Actually, we learn together as they have not worked on many there and mine was the first they sold. Great bunch of guys there, if you are in the area, stop in and see them.

OK, its late and I have rambled on long enough. Hope this helps some out, and if not, at least gave some an opportunity to sit at the computer with a cold barley-pop and read awhile. I have learned alot from this site. Great bunch of folks here. If I can be of assistance to any, just let me know.
Hoss out....

To go along with "why they weren't found at the factory?", I had the chance to look at a pre-production model that the District Rep rode to a local dealership. This was in mid summer during the pre-order time period. The Rep actually pointed to the saddlebags and said they were mis-aligned, but it will be fixed on the production models. He brought it up first! He pointed out other alignment issues and mold flash, all of which are still evident on models I see at dealerships.

I'm sure there is a lot of discussion around Victory comparing the cost of unhappy customers to the cost of fixing the issues. I believe that they will realize the long term health of Victory is more important than the few dollars lost by addressing their issues. A strong brand takes years to build but only days to destroy. I believe (and hope) they are smarter than that.

Northwest of you

If Victory had delayed shipping bikes over a minor cosmetic issue, people would have been screaming

"bloody murder".

Even delays due to driveabiliy issues caused upset and complaints, so the I think the company is doing quite

well with this launch, all things considered.

When Harley released their new model last year, there were many more problems than the Vision is having, in fact

I think to expect a new release to be perfect is unrealistic .

If people didn't know to look for the side storage cover "dimple", 3/4ths of the owners wouldn't even notice it.

I am not saying to not fix it, but, if you asked 100 bystanders  to look over your bike and find the "blemish", maybe 1 person would find it.

All I care is I want my side storage to stay closed!

Nothing like going 75MPH and the box comes open and all your papers go flying. (took about 30 minutes of walking the grass to find most of it). Never did find one paper.

Now all papers are stored in the CD hole in the floor of the top box.

They are supposed to adjust it at the dealer this week along with the other list of add-ons. 5 day backlog of bikes turned into a 10 day backlog, and the clock doesn't start until your bike is on the property. No appointment taken is kind of aggravating.

Least another chrome piece showed up! Now if they could just figure out what's there and what's missing.

‘I just wanna ride'

Cold and raining therefore I am not missing out on much riding.

nowor218 - My complaints are not driven by the success or failure of the launch. My issues are with their lack of willingness to correct issues. No reason to beat a dead horse about the saddle bag dent, but 9 out of 9 people that looked at my bike pointed it out to me. Trust me I didn't ask them to find it nor did I want to admit Victory would have sold it that way. Most of my friends ride Harley's and I did not wish to give them "Victory" amunition when we talk bikes. Sounds like your saddle bag lid is better than mine.......do you want to trade?

Looks like from other posts here that your bag dent (crease) issue will be resloved. Hopefully that will make a lot of folks happier. Sometimes it takes time to resolve factory issues, I've been in manufacturing for 38 years, I know. The best way is to resolve issues through a "good" dealer. I know when I had my Kingpin there were issues with the rear fender on the muffler side, kinda like a dent. My dealer took care of the issue, independent of factory, he just ordered an new fender. If he would have had the same color bike in a crate, I'm convinced he would have pulled off the fender right then. Victory is a very good motorcycle company and I believe they are sticking by their bike owners and will resolve most if not all issues in time.
I also have a bunch of HD buddies that I ride with, they like my bike and they have a great deal of respect for my motorcycle. If your buddies or riding partners don't have respect for your motorcyle, then I would ride off!!!! Years ago I lived by this "The Bull S... Stops When The Green Flag Drops"! "Giddy - Up"!

Bottom line, the saddlebag dent issue should not be a reason for Victory to fight us on, they should demand the same quality from the saddlebag lid manufacturer that we expect from them, no exceptions.
All in all though I gotta say, I love this bike!

Tim were your bags locked? I believe the service manual recommends they be locked when riding.

Nice to hear when someone gets a chance to talk to the company. Emails and phone calls dont seem to get through. I would be happy with an acceptable repair. I wouldnt expext a door or fender to be replaced because of a dent but I would expect it to be repaired.

Nope, they were not locked, just latched.
I live in the Country we don't lock much.

Locking may not help since the right bag doesn't want to latch. That being said; it supposed to be adjusted at the shop this week.

Roadrunner, where did you get your Vision?

SuperBike Shop
Evansville, IN.

http://www.esuperbike.com/

I can't complain about them. I got a great deal on a fine bike, and they did me right with everything we added.

Got all my chrome (but two missing parts) put on last week, and the fork lights, CB intercom, pegs, rear rack and others stuff.

The two missing pieces of chrome now are backordered to ship the first week of May. But who knows.
The bike looks great now, but the misses chrome really stands out (to me).

Rode all day Saturday after I picked the bike up.... god I love this bike.
